If you’re craving sizzling meats, cozy stews, and generous side dishes, finding the right Korean restaurant in Philadelphia can make your next meal feel special.
The city has plenty of choices, from casual fried chicken spots to places built for shared tabletop dining. Top restaurants in Philadelphia can be hard to compare when you just want comfort food that’s worth the trip.
That’s why I spent time looking through local menus, service styles, and customer feedback to find Korean spots that feel reliable for different kinds of diners. Here are the places I would check first when the craving hits.
How much does a Korean restaurant cost in Philadelphia?
A meal at a Korean restaurant in Philadelphia usually costs about $13 to $20 for rice bowls or noodle dishes, while barbecue plates and specialty entrees can run $20 to $35 or more.

1. Buk Chon Korean Cuisine

Website: bukchonkorean.com
Address: 132 Chestnut Street
Contact: (215) 925-9998
Hours: Sun-Thu: 11:30 AM-10 PM; Fri-Sat: 11:30 AM-11 PM
Old City is a natural stop when you want something warm and filling after walking around, and Buk Chon Korean Cuisine fits that mood well.
The kitchen leans into a chef-driven style without making the menu feel stiff, using scratch cooking and ingredients sourced from family-owned farms.
What helps most is how approachable the dishes are. Their bibimbap can be built with different meat or vegetable options, so it works for both first-timers and regular Korean food fans.
The house sauces add another layer, especially the garlic soy and gochujang chili paste.
The downside is that bibimbap sauce choices are limited to those two pairings, so diners who like more customization may feel boxed in.
Still, the fresh ingredients and cozy setting make it easy to enjoy.
If you like Korean cuisine, you need to try food here
The food was sooo good! And staff were amazingly nice! If you like Korean cuisine, you need to try food here for sure. We tried half of the menu because we had been there in a big group and everyone really enjoyed it.

2. SouthGate

Website: southgatephilly.com
Address: 1801 Lombard Street
Contact: (215) 560-8443
Hours: Tue-Thu: 4 PM-10 PM; Fri: 4 PM-11 PM; Sat: 2 PM-11 PM; Sun: 2 PM-10 PM
A casual pub setting can be a nice break when your group wants Korean flavors without a formal dinner plan. SouthGate does that by mixing bold Korean-inspired seasoning with familiar comfort food like burgers, sandwiches, and shareable plates.
This makes the menu easy to approach, especially for friends who are new to Korean food. The brunch menu adds another reason to visit during the day, while the bar, craft beer list, and happy hour deals make it useful for relaxed nights out.
The trade-off is that the menu leans heavily into Western fusion. If you want strictly traditional dishes with no American-style twists, this may not be your first choice.
For a lively neighborhood meal, though, the mix feels fun and easy.
Phenomenal food
THE FOOD is PHENOMENAL! Had Korean fried chicken, Brussels, bao buns, burger, fries. ALL were absolute fire. Service is awesome and most people in the restaurant were regulars and I can see why. Highly recommend.

Pit stopped on our way back from New York to Columbus, OH. Craved some unique food and drink n this place did not disappoint. Bulgogi was top notch as well as the draft selection. A must visit for Korean food lovers in Philly.

3. Kimchi House @ Koreana

Website: kimchihouses.com
Address: 1543 Spring Garden St
Contact: (215) 575-5099
Hours: Tue-Sun: 11 AM-9 PM
Quick Korean comfort food is helpful when you want a solid lunch without a long sit-down meal. Kimchi House @ Koreana keeps things simple with counter service, fresh rice bowls, and warm stews that feel right for a busy weekday.
The menu has plenty of familiar staples, including spicy kimchi soup, bulgogi, and cup bap options. I also like that they offer catering, which makes the food easier to bring into office lunches or casual gatherings.
The setup is relaxed and efficient, so it works well when you need something filling without extra fuss.
The limitation is that the counter-service layout isn’t ideal for formal dinners or long group celebrations. Still, for everyday Korean food, the flavors feel comforting and consistent.
Highly recommend
The best Korean restaurant in town! I can’t say enough good things about this spot! Every time I’m working late, this restaurant is my go-to place. The food is always delicious, authentic, and consistent—exactly what you want after a long day. The staff is friendly and welcoming, even if I’m popping in close to closing time. It’s clear they care about quality and service. Highly recommend giving it a try—you won’t be disappointed!

The food was great
Cute little place! I’ve been here once for dinner (dine-in) and another time for lunch (take out). Both times the food was great! I’m a Korean from California, so my standards for Korean food are kind of high, and this place is for sure up to par. So far the bulgogi cup bap is my favorite! I ordered gimbap to eat on the plane home because PHL airport food is not my vibe, and I’ll definitely be doing that again. Looking forward to eating here again soon!

4. Jong Ka Jib

Website: jongkajib.com
Address: 6600 N 5th St
Contact: (215) 924-0100
Hours: Daily: 10:30 AM-9 PM
Big shared plates are part of the appeal when you’re eating Korean food with family or friends. Jong Ka Jib is built for that kind of meal, with a focused menu of hearty barbecue, soft tofu stew, and classic street-food favorites.
Their galbi is the main draw, especially if you want marinated short ribs with a deep, savory flavor.
The menu also includes spicy rice cakes, glass noodles, and pork dishes that can round out a table spread. Because the portions are generous, the restaurant works best when you’re ordering for more than one person.
The downside is that barbecue plates come as large fixed-price entrees, which can feel limiting for solo diners or smaller groups.
Even so, the steady comfort-food focus gives the place lasting appeal.
A Philly Korean food icon
Jong ka job has been a Philly Korean food icon for over 30 years. I had my first date with my wife here and their food is still the consistent great taste and quality. I know that there are other fancy places for soon dubu but this place still has it. There ban Chan is still the same after all these years. The spicy cucumbers, the pickled radish, the marinated bean sprouts and their seaweed salad is still the best. Super clean and relaxed atmosphere

Exceptional food
This was a totally surprised visit
We did not expect the grandeur of this restaurant.
The outside was so unassumings.
The interior decor was very Korean by design. The restraint was clean and quiet. The food was exceptional as reviewed by others. We plan to bring our family here

5. Dae Bak

Website: daebakphiladelphia.com
Address: 1016 Race St, 2nd Floor
Contact: (267) 457-5876
Hours: Daily: 11 AM-10 PM
Chinatown has plenty of busy storefronts, so it can be easy to miss a restaurant tucked upstairs. Dae Bak rewards the extra effort with a relaxed dining room and large family-style dishes made for sharing.
The menu covers savory pork wraps, spicy kimchi pork, noodles, and other Korean favorites that work well for groups.
There are also healthy and vegan options, which help when not everyone at the table wants the same kind of meal. The atmosphere feels casual, with window seating and a television adding to the easygoing feel.
One limitation is that the restaurant is on the second floor, so the walk-up access may be difficult for some guests. It’s also less visible from the street, but the generous portions make it worth finding.
100% recommend
Absolutely love this place for Korean food. Every time we are in the area it’s our go to spot. The food tastes great we love taste and staff is always great and accommodating. 100% recommend it’s located on the second floor. Also it’s nice sitting by the window.

Highly recommend
My favorite spot in the city. They offer a great menu, amazing location (with window side seating), and always friendly service. I always try something new here; today I tried the buckwheat noodles in beef broth- 10/10 (like everything else!) I just love the atmosphere in here. Portions are big too! It’s great before a night out with friends. Highly recommend this hidden gem to anyone looking for the best Korean in the city.
