5 Best Accommodations in Philadelphia That Will Make You Feel at Home

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Location Accessibility: I assessed how close each property is to major public transportation hubs and popular city attractions. This ensures that guests can navigate the city efficiently without wasting precious travel time.

Amenity Quality: I evaluated the availability of essential features such as fitness centers, secure parking, and modern kitchen facilities. Premium amenities directly impact the overall comfort and convenience of your stay.

Pricing Transparency: I looked for clear information regarding lease terms or nightly rates to ensure users can budget effectively. Hidden fees can quickly ruin a travel budget, so upfront pricing matters.

Safety and Security: I verified that each property maintains high standards for building access and resident safety protocols. Peace of mind is non-negotiable when staying in a bustling metropolitan area.

Reviews & Reputation: I checked high ratings from real clients across trusted local platforms and search engines. This helped me confirm that the guest experiences match the official marketing claims.

Finding the right place to stay in the City of Brotherly Love can truly elevate your visit, whether you’re in town to explore iconic historic sites or simply soak up the local culture.

With so many distinctive neighborhoods to choose from, selecting the best accommodation in Philadelphia means considering location, comfort, amenities, and the unique character of each area.

From sophisticated high-rises in Center City to charming boutique properties near University City, Philly offers lodging options to suit every travel style and budget.

To simplify your search, I’ve carefully rounded up some of the finest places to stay, helping you choose the perfect home base for an unforgettable getaway.

1. Philadelphia Marriott Downtown

Address: 1201 Market St

Hours: 24 Hours

There’s something special about stepping out of your hotel and finding Philadelphia’s biggest attractions just around the corner.

That’s the experience at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, where Independence Hall and Reading Terminal Market are both within easy reach.

What truly sets the hotel apart is its lively atmosphere. Its expansive event spaces host conferences throughout the year, creating an energetic mix of business travelers and vacationers.

In between outings, you can unwind at one of the on-site restaurants or make use of the spacious fitness center.

Of course, such a central location comes with a trade-off. The lobby and other common areas can feel crowded during major events, and valet service may slow to a crawl at peak times.

Even so, if you’d like to stay in the heart of the city, this hotel makes an excellent home base.

Pros

  • Central downtown location
  • Large on-site gym
  • Dedicated meeting rooms
  • In-house restaurant

Cons

  • Crowded common spaces

Customer Reviews:

Great location

Hotel is well serviced and staff are always willing to help.  Great location to walk to many areas in the city.  Furniture/appliances were in good condion and clean.

But… Bed was super firm, pillows too soft, and the showerhead is oversized for how little water it puts out (have to use the wand and move the mount up for the shower to actually shower).

Everything about this Marriott was great

I found everything about this Marriott to be great. The staff was friendly, attentive, and kind, and the food was even better. I particularly visited the City Center Panty every single day of my stay, multiple times throughout the day, and they were definitely my highlight. Lovely shout out to Renee in City Center for your kindness and warm conversations!

2. The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia

Address: 10 Avenue of the Arts

Hours: 24 Hours

If you’re the kind of traveler who loves a hotel with a story to tell, The Ritz-Carlton, Philadelphia, is worth staying at. The moment you step into the grand lobby, you’ll understand its enduring appeal.

Housed in a beautifully restored 1908 bank building, the property retains its soaring neoclassical architecture, creating a sense of occasion from the very start of your stay.

Yet the experience feels far from old-fashioned. An exclusive club lounge and a full-service spa provide modern comforts that invite you to slow down and indulge.

As the day winds down, Aqimero downstairs serves vibrant Latin American cuisine in an equally stylish setting.

The only real drawback is parking. Because the hotel relies on an off-site valet service, bringing your own car can become surprisingly expensive over a few days, so it’s worth planning ahead.

Pros

  • Historic landmark building
  • On-site luxury spa
  • Fine dining downstairs
  • Club lounge access

Cons

  • Pricey valet parking

Customer Reviews:

Really recommend

Outstanding at every level from front desk, concierge and door staff. As it was our anniversary we were given a bottle of complimentary champagne to celebrate a great touch. Location is first rate an easy ten minute walk from most places. Really recommend.

A lovely stay

We had a lovely stay at the Ritz-Carlton Philadelphia, and I especially want to recognize Karina at the front desk. She checked us in and truly set the tone for our stay. Even though she was incredibly busy, she was kind, sweet, and genuinely attentive, making sure we were well taken care of. Her warmth and professionalism made us feel welcomed right away, and it didn’t go unnoticed. Thank you, Karina, for such a wonderful start to our visit!

3. Apple Hostels Philadelphia

Address: 33 S Bank St

Hours: 24 Hours

For solo travelers eager to meet new people without stretching their budget, the Apple Hostels of Philadelphia is hard to beat. The prime Old City location places many of Philadelphia’s historic landmarks within an easy walk.

Inside, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, more like a close-knit community than a typical hostel. That sense of camaraderie quickly becomes part of the experience.

Another thing that I love is that they have a full calendar of group activities that make introductions feel effortless, with organized ghost tours often turning strangers into friends.

When it comes to amenities, the place has a shared kitchen and laundry facilities, ensuring your travel is much more convenient.

However, with guests gathering in the dorms and common areas throughout the day, privacy is limited. As a result, light sleepers and anyone seeking a quiet retreat may be happier elsewhere.

Pros

  • Near historic landmarks
  • Shared guest kitchen
  • Free social events
  • Lockers with outlets

Cons

  • Noisy communal vibe

Customer Reviews:

Great hostel, great stay

Great hostel.  Heaps of public space to relax, and a huge kitchen to cook all that you need.  Beds are surprisingly comfortable.  Staff I interacted with are very kind and helpful, shoutout to Lana in particular for the chats and recommendations 🫶 Located amongst majority of the historical/tourist sites in Philly.  Great stay!

Lovely stay

I love my one day stay here! I did not know what to expect but it was beyond my expectations. The staff were wonderful, helpful and friendly. The place is neat and accessible to so many city attractions. It is close to food, shopping and iconic places. You can literally walk anywhere from there.

I love my experience staying in the 18-room girls hostel! I love the set up of each bunk bed and the common areas are so nice and equipped with games and fun things to do.

4. ROOST Philadelphia

Address: 1199 Ludlow St

Contact: 267 703 4040

Hours: 24 Hours

Extended stays call for a little extra breathing room, and ROOST Philadelphia delivers exactly that.

Instead of opting for conventional apartments in Philadelphia, guests are treated to spacious, fully furnished suites that blend apartment-style living with boutique-hotel conveniences.

Generous seating areas and lush indoor plants lend each unit the charm of a thoughtfully designed home.

I love that the transition from sightseeing to unwinding feels seamless here, especially with multiple locations scattered throughout downtown.

There’s one practical consideration, though. Since the property doesn’t provide on-site parking, guests with cars will need to rely on nearby garages, which can become a hassle after a full day of exploring.

Pros

  • Fully furnished layout
  • Multiple neighborhood choices
  • Boutique hotel services
  • Spacious living areas

Cons

  • No vehicle parking

Customer Reviews:

Highly recommend

Stayed here this week. Great location in the middle of everything. Food, bars, entertainment all within walking distance. Rooms and amenities are top of the line, and Randy at FRONT DESK went above and beyond to making me feel welcome! Highly recommended.

I truly enjoyed our experience

Thank you Roost East Market for a great stay, my husband and I truly enjoyed our experience.  The location was perfect, the room was beautifully designed yet comfortable with everything you need plus more.  I enjoyed the gym and pool while my husband was working but glad we made a weekend out of it so we could enjoy it together.  Thank you Amina, Robert and Frank who always greeted us with a friendly smile and made us feel right at home.  We look forward to our next visit hopefully sometime soon.  Thank you

If your ideal getaway includes quiet mornings and historic charm, the Cornerstone Bed & Breakfast is sure to impress.

Housed in a lovely Victorian building, this University City gem is known for its personalized service and serene atmosphere. Breakfast is actually a highlight of the stay, with locally sourced dishes paired with aromatic La Colombe coffee.

The inn also enjoys a convenient location close to Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania. In fact, if you’re driving in from the car wash shops in Philadelphia, you’ll be glad to find a secure private driveway.

Do take note, though, that parking is available for a fee, even if you’re staying at the property.

Pros

  • Locally sourced breakfasts
  • Near university campuses
  • In-room massage availability
  • Private driveway parking

Cons

  • Parking isn’t free for checked-in guests

Customer Reviews:

Convenient location

Phenomenal accommodations for gluten free guests. During my stay, Isabella—who is gluten-free herself—went above and beyond, preparing delicious breakfasts and keeping a variety of baked goods available throughout the day and evening. The location is conveniently close to Drexel University, offering a peaceful setting while still being within easy reach of downtown.

Highly recommend

Fantastic bed and breakfast – it was the perfect place to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The hosts even left a birthday card on the bed for when we arrived which was such a nice touch. Our breakfast (cranberry apple french toast with a side of bacon) was absolutely delicious and we already can’t wait to return! Such a convenient location in Philly too and I really liked chatting with the innkeeper and other guests. Highly recommend.
