We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Technical Expertise: We assessed the watchmakers' backgrounds and training in handling the delicate movements. Choosing shops with decades of industry experience ensures your valuable timepieces receive proper care.

Turnaround Time: We looked closely at how efficiently each shop processes repairs and updates its clients. A predictable timeline prevents you from wondering when your watch will finally return home.

Service Range: We checked if the locations offer comprehensive solutions from simple battery swaps to full mechanical restorations. Having a wide catalog means you can bring in everyday pieces or high-end vintage items.

Customer Reviews:

A great experience

Followed a recommendation from a local Facebook township page. What A great experience. The owner Paul was very nice and immediately changed 3 watch batteries while I waited. What a pleasant surprise to find a small locally owned shop.  He was extremely reasonably priced. With the service provided and experience I wanted to give  some extra cash as a tip to show appreciation. Highly recommend. Will happily tell anyone I know looking for watch repair to go to All in Time.

His watch repair service is excellent

Paul’s a good guy,  fair, honest, and reliable. He’s replaced several watch batteries for me over the years and has always offered helpful advice. Beyond batteries, his watch repair service is excellent: efficient, reasonably priced, and clearly handled with care. You can tell he takes pride in his work. Definitely someone you can trust with your timepieces.

If you’re looking for a trustworthy hub for high-end Swiss timepieces, this family-owned boutique brings over 40 years of industry experience to the table.

When I stopped in to discuss a vintage piece, their depth of knowledge about premium luxury brands was immediately obvious. And you can expect their trained technicians to handle all watch repair work on-site to maintain complete quality control.

On the downside, some customers have reported issues with simple battery swaps where the casing wasn’t reassembled correctly afterward. This sometimes led to a loss of water resistance and internal moisture after exposure to water.

Still, their status as a comprehensive buying, selling, and servicing location makes them a highly convenient stop for local watch enthusiasts.

Pros

  • In-house watch technicians
  • Over 40 years of family industry experience
  • Complete luxury buying and trading ecosystem
  • Comprehensive luxury and Swiss brand servicing

Cons

  • Potential loss of water resistance post-service
  • Instances of incorrect reassembly after battery changes
  • Limited service warranty recourse
  • Service outcomes occasionally falling short

Customer Reviews:

Phenomenal experience

Phenomenal experience insofar as pricing, negotiation, and delivery. Alas, I lost a gentleman’s wager as to whether my Breitling Emergency was larger than the purchased Panerai (TNS was accurate, albeit by a micron…goes to show you should never tell an expert his business!). Highly recommended – all of my future watch purchases and watch repair services will be through TNS and I urge others to do the same.

Professional and detailed

Went in to get one of my family watches that was passed down looked at and fixed up. Very professional and detailed in going over prices and services. Had my watch working and back to me within two weeks! Since this time  I have been back to get my other watches done and had to leave a review. Best place for watches in the city hands down !

Those hunting for highly personalized attention for fine timepieces will appreciate how Henry of Mayfair focuses entirely on specialized, face-to-face service.

Here, they deliver comprehensive repairs and full restorations for both watches and clocks. They even have a niche service for maintaining and relocating large grandfather clocks.

On top of that, they handle everything from routine band adjustments to more advanced historical overhauls with care and technical skill.

That said, some visitors have described the customer service as unprofessional or a bit curt. A few also mentioned feeling somewhat unwelcome during brief interactions on-site.

Even so, the rare combination of general jewelry sales and highly specialized clock restoration makes this shop an important resource for traditional collectors.

Pros

  • Full watch and clock restoration
  • Specialized grandfather clock moving and maintenance
  • Personalized face-to-face customer service
  • Combined retail jewelry and repair shop

Cons

  • Customer service could still be improved

Customer Reviews:

Replaced in watch and my watch sized in less than half hour

Man has been doing this for forty years it’s a dying art. Had battery replaced in watch and my watch sized in less than half hour. Not an easy thing, but when you’re a skilled tradesman you know what you’re doing and he does. Recommend you have any of your jewelry serviced by this man and he has some very nice jewelry and watches for sale as well take advantage of this opportunity while it’s still available

Made it look like new

Great guy, went there today to get some work done to a watch my grandson wanted me to give him. Henry put a new battery in it, shorten the band and polished the crystal and watch. He made it look like new.

Henry of Mayfair is the place to go.

4. Barton & Chase Inc

barton-chase-inc

Website: https://bartonandchase.com/

Address: 731 Walnut St

Contact: 215-922-1886

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Operating right in the heart of the city since 1949, Barton & Chase is a long-established business.

What makes them unique is that they combine professional repair services with a massive wholesale distribution center. Their skilled team handles everything from simple crystal fittings to detailed dial refinishing with ease.

Their incredible inventory is impressive, as it supports both everyday watch owners and professional trade watchmakers alike.

And if you live outside the immediate area, they even offer a convenient mail-in system so you can get your timepiece serviced without the drive.

The main trade-off is their timeline. Turnaround times can sometimes be on the longer side, and complex repairs can easily stretch across multiple months.

We also found that their upfront pricing communication can be a bit inconsistent, so you might not get a clear explanation of the final costs until after the work is complete.

Pros

  • Long-established business operating since 1949
  • Hybrid repair and wholesale technical supply center
  • Convenient mail-in repair and estimate model
  • Affordable pricing for routine watch maintenance

Cons

  • Extended repair and estimate turnaround times
  • Inconsistent upfront pricing communication
  • Occasional lack of proactive status updates
  • Repair durability concerns for minor fixes

Customer Reviews:

Will definitely be returning with any future watch repair needs

I really like this place. I got a battery replaced in my watch and it was $5 (the price is right!). This shop feels old school in a way where you trust them as soon as you walk in the door. The gentleman working there was funny, efficient, and attentive. I will definitely be returning with any future watch repair needs!

My GO-TO analogue watch repair place

My GO-TO analogue watch repair place, and I live states away. Real people, working on real mechanical moving time pieces. I have several old watches in a box. I have one there now, needing a new shaft- not an easy job. It’s just THE place to go. I can not imagine life without such a source.

5. The 1916 Company

the-1916-company

Website: https://www.the1916company.com/about-us/our-locations/govberg-philadelphia/

Address: 1529 Walnut St

Contact: 215-546-6505

Hours: Monday – Saturday: 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM

If you’re a collector seeking elite manufacturer standards, you’ll find exactly what you need at The 1916 Company, an officially authorized retailer for luxury brands like Rolex and Patek Philippe.

In addition to their retail showroom, they provide a complete concierge-style ecosystem for buying, selling, and servicing premium investment pieces.

We love that their highly trained watchmakers follow strict factory protocols for full movement overhauls and waterproof testing.

A friend of ours brought his premium chronograph here and couldn’t stop praising the staff for how meticulous they were during the initial intake process.

The main downside is that their on-the-spot capabilities can be surprisingly limited for minor walk-in requests.

For instance, some clients have been turned away or redirected to other locations just for a basic link adjustment because the correct tools weren’t immediately available on-site.

To avoid a wasted trip, call ahead to confirm a technician is available before swinging by for quick, minor fixes.

Pros

  • Authorized retailer for ultra-luxury Swiss brands
  • Factory-certified watchmakers and servicing standards
  • Integrated buy, sell, and trade lifecycle platform
  • Premium concierge-style client experience

Cons

  • Limited immediate capability for minor walk-in adjustments
  • Service and sales coordination can feel disorganized
  • Inconsistent communication across different staff members
  • Product availability not guaranteed during browsing

Customer Reviews:

Incredible service

I walked in and was greeted immediately by Erik Widhson. I had a watch strap that needed to be fixed – even though they don’t carry that watch and I bought it elsewhere, Erik was happy to fix it and did so in no time. That’s incredible service.

Moreover, I took a moment to explore the selection there, and it is top notch. I do hope to return soon and get myself a gift.

So accommodating and were able to fix iit on the spot

I lost the pin from my watch band while at my nephew’s  graduation.- in from out of town and flying out in the morning. I stopped in  to Govberg on my walk back to our hotel and the store was so accommodating and were able to fix iit on the spot!  Monica Moc was so caring and knowledgeable. Thank you!
