The 5 Best Boutiques in Philadelphia for Unique Style Finds

boutiques-in-philadelphia
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Curated Inventory: I looked closely at the selection of clothing and accessories to make sure each store offers a distinct point of view. A strong merchandise mix helps shoppers find unique pieces that fit their personal style.

Customer Experience: Evaluating the level of service was crucial for identifying the top shopping destinations in the city. We focused on shops known for attentive styling, friendly guidance, or engaging community events.

Price Accessibility: I analyzed the pricing structure of each store to understand the overall value provided to shoppers. Options that balance high-quality garments with reasonable price points scored well.

Brand Identity: Independent retailers work best when they maintain a strong theme or lifestyle focus. Shops that clearly cater to specific style communities or emphasize sustainable practices stood out in our selection process.

While many visitors come for the history or stay for the artisanal food scene, the fashion landscape here quietly becomes part of the experience. Independent boutiques, in particular, bring a more personal touch that larger retailers often miss.

From high-end designer labels to hidden gems filled with unique gifts and carefully curated pieces, the local shopping scene offers something for every style and budget.

If you are not sure where to start, I’ve got you covered. I’ve explored the local shopping scene to find the best boutiques in Philadelphia worth visiting.

Let’s dive into the top spots that can help you refresh your wardrobe and discover something a little more personal along the way!

1. Urban Princess Boutique

Website: https://www.urbanprincessboutique.com/

Address: 620 S 4th St

Contact: (267) 909-8317

Hours: Monday-Sunday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM and by appointment

Finding a true lifestyle store that combines boho apparel with unique gifts is easy at Urban Princess Boutique, a hidden-feeling stop along South Street’s Fabric Row.

Their range goes well beyond clothing. They offer home decor, crystals, accessories, and metaphysical pieces mixed into the racks.

I stopped by to browse their crystal selection, and the personalized service immediately made the shop feel warm instead of overwhelming.

The free-spirited fashion here is tailored to individuality. The store also does a nice job encouraging shoppers of different body types to stay authentic.

They also update inventory often and host live sales for remote buyers.

The main tradeoff is price, since some pieces cost more than mass-market alternatives. Daily shopping hours are also fairly short, so planning ahead helps.

Pros

  • Broad lifestyle product variety
  • Strong local neighborhood reputation
  • Personalized virtual shopping events
  • Flexible nationwide shipping

Cons

  • Higher pricing on select items
  • Limited daily shopping hours

A fantastic boutique

Urban Princess is such a fun store and an absolute go-to for gifts! There’s always a great selection of unique finds, and it’s the perfect spot when you’re looking for something special. The owner, Mary, hosts some wonderful events that make the shop feel lively and community-focused. A fantastic boutique and a true neighborhood gem. Definitely go check it out!

You will not be disappointed

The young ladies at Urban Princess Boutique go above and beyond all your requests and help with shopping. They carry everything from handmade items to crystals and unique treasures. I would recommend this gem to anyone searching for something that calls out to you. Mary and Cyndi also offer personalized shopping with an appointment on Zoom.

2. Joan Shepp

joan-shepp

Website: https://www.joanshepp.com/

Address: 1905 Walnut St

Contact: (215) 735-2666

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Sunday, 12:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Shoppers seeking an elevated concept store with a curated designer selection will find exactly that at Joan Shepp.

Established in 1971, this long-standing boutique provides access to an eclectic assortment of established and emerging global fashion houses.

I like that the stylists lean into a high-touch approach, so the experience feels more like a thoughtful consultation than a rushed shopping trip. The atmosphere feels refined but still expressive, which makes bold pieces less intimidating to try.

The store also keeps a constantly evolving inventory of exclusive garments, footwear, and statement accessories.

The main downside is the occasional confusion around sale pricing and discounts. Prices also sit firmly in luxury territory, so this is better for investment pieces than casual impulse buys.

Pros

  • Established luxury credibility
  • High-end concept store layout
  • Prime Rittenhouse location
  • Wide designer fashion selection

Cons

  • Unclear discount pricing sometimes
  • High price points overall

The selection of items was awesome

Omg I can’t say enough nice things about this store and Elaine, the lovely woman who helped me! I needed a dress for our wedding dinner this Saturday, and Elaine made the process enjoyable, fun, and easy. I feel so pretty in my outfit. The selection of items was awesome, and the prices were reasonable considering the quality and styles.

A top tier experience

Shopping at Joan Shepp is always a top tier experience! Tuesday makes it feel like you’re shopping with your best girlfriend, who has the best taste. It’s not every day that I have the luxury of shopping here, but when I can, they make it well worth the price tag.

3. Kin Boutique

kin-boutique

Website: https://www.shop-kin.com/

Address: 1010 Pine Street

Contact: (215) 595-2233

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM; Sunday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Kin Boutique works well if you want a contemporary shop that feels stylish without being too precious.

The store carries fashion-forward pieces for both women and men, along with accessories that make it easy to build a full look.

I also like that they operate a children’s extension called munchKIN nearby, which makes the brand useful for families and gift hunters too.

The Pine Street location gives it a relaxed neighborhood feel, and the staff seems comfortable helping shoppers pull sizes or think through outfits.

The main catch is the return policy. In-store returns have to be made within fourteen days and are limited to store credit only.

Clearance pieces, special orders, and swimwear are also final sale, so it is worth slowing down before buying.

Pros

  • Inclusive menswear and womenswear
  • Curated contemporary brand list
  • Central neighborhood location
  • Dedicated children’s extension

Cons

  • In-store returns limited to store credit
  • Final sale on swimwear and clearance

Good shopping experience

Amazing shopping experience. My friend and I were wandering around the area popping in and out of shops. We decided to stop into Kin and did not regret it. We were welcomed as soon as we entered, and after we picked up an item, the dressing room was curated for us by the shop owners and employees.

Staff were incredibly helpful

Fantastic first experience at Kin this weekend while visiting from Chicago. I picked up a pair of great socks, and the staff were incredibly helpful, providing insights into their merchandise and even offering to ship items back for us. I also appreciated their recommendations for go-to restaurants and experiences in Philly.

4. Delicious Boutique

delicious-boutique

Website: https://www.deliciousboutique.com/

Address: 212 E. Girard Ave.

Contact: (215) 413-0375

Hours: Wednesday-Sunday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM

Anyone drawn to alternative subcultures will probably have fun wandering through Delicious Boutique.

This imaginative retail space specializes in independent designer fashion. It’s a great spot for those looking for the kind of steampunk, festival, and performance-ready apparel that breaks away from mainstream trends.

I recently looked into their in-house corset showroom, and the custom fitting process stood out for being detailed and personal.

The visually immersive, circus-inspired interior also makes the visit feel more like a creative outing than a standard shopping trip.

They host local art shows and lively parties, which adds to the community feel.

The one frustrating issue is the shared online and in-store inventory system. If something sells out physically before the website updates, online orders may be canceled.

Pros

  • Unique alternative fashion focus
  • Custom in-house corsetry service
  • Experiential artist-driven events
  • Immersive interior design

Cons

  • Shared stock can cause inventory issues

Great shop

Great shop and wonderful employee. She was great, but I can’t remember her name sadly. She was working on the 17th of September. Only wish I was able to buy more. Sadly, only so much room in a carry on. Will be back for sure, if not in person, online for sure.

High quality

This hole in the wall was a hidden gem! Full of leather goods from pants, tops, headwear, accessories, and more. Cat was amazing and so helpful in telling me about each item. It’s a small shop, but there’s tons to look at, and the workers are great at helping find the perfect size.

5. August Moon Boutique

august-moon-boutique

Website: https://www.augustmoonco.com/

Address: 1729 E. Passyunk Avenue

Contact: @augustmoon.co / [email protected]

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM

August Moon Boutique is a strong fit if you want approachable fashion with a more thoughtful sourcing angle.

The shop focuses on versatile pieces at accessible price points while prioritizing sustainable, small-batch brands.

I especially like that their in-house handmade jewelry line sits beside pieces from other local artisans, so the store feels personal instead of generic.

The East Passyunk location also offers one-on-one styling and private shopping parties, which can make a simple wardrobe refresh feel more intentional.

Their commitment to women-owned and minority-owned businesses adds another reason to shop here.

The drawback is scarcity. Because they rely heavily on pre-booked inventory, popular pieces may not be restocked once they sell out.

Pros

  • Accessible pricing for everyday wear
  • Focus on sustainable small brands
  • Custom handmade jewelry line
  • Personalized styling appointments

Cons

  • Limited restocking of sold-out items
  • Size unavailability for popular pieces

Amazing variety of women’s apparel and accessories

Such a beautiful store! Amazing variety of women’s apparel and accessories. The decor is warm and inviting, and the owner was really helpful. Also check out their in-house, handmade jewelry. I went home with several pieces and already look forward to my next visit!

Everything is high quality

I can’t say enough positive things about August Moon. The pieces I own from here have seen occasions like weddings and vacations, but they also dress up everyday outfits to feel special. Everything is high quality and so carefully selected by Kristina. Visiting the store and having fitting room fashion shows is an experience unto itself!
