We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Range: We looked for clinics offering everything from standard evaluations to advanced surgical excisions. A broad service range means you can get all your care under one roof.

Pricing & Procedures: We compared consultation fees and removal costs to ensure transparent billing practices. Finding places that accept major insurance plans was also a huge priority.

Specialist Approach: We evaluated the medical background of the staff to ensure high diagnostic accuracy. Having board-certified dermatologists on site guarantees you're getting safe and effective treatments.

Location & Accessibility: We checked for convenient locations across Center City and the surrounding suburbs. Good parking options and flexible appointment hours were a must for busy patients.

Staff Credentials: We heavily weighed the surgical experience and clinical reputation of the treating providers. Clinics with dedicated pathology experts scored higher for their rapid and accurate biopsy results.

Finding a suspicious spot on your skin is stressful. So, you want to get it checked quickly by someone who actually knows what they’re doing.

Well, finding the best Philadelphia clinics for mole removal doesn’t have to be a headache. I’ve done the legwork for you and looked into clinics that combine expert care with minimal downtime so you can focus on healing.

My main goal? It’s for you to find professionals who prioritize patient safety and comfort. Let’s look at the top spots in the city that can safely handle your skin concerns and get you back to your busy life.

If you prefer a more holistic route for general wellness, though, you might want to consult a naturopath in Philadelphia instead.

1. THE DERMATOLOGY SPECIALISTS – OLD CITY

Website: thedermspecs.com

Address: 225 Market Street

Contact: 215-395-7546

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00AM–6:00PM | Saturday to Sunday 9:00AM–7:00PM

The Dermatology Specialists use advanced laser technology to safely remove moles without traditional surgical cutting. They also use a specialized subcutaneous stitching method under the skin to keep marks minimal if you need an excision.

The medical team customizes the thinnest sutures possible for your specific body location. This approach stops noticeable scar patterns from forming as you heal.

I had a friend get a cosmetic spot removed here recently, and the scar was basically invisible within a few weeks.

The main downside is that they require immediate payment at the time of your service. There’s zero billing flexibility for patients who prefer delayed payment options, so come prepared.

On the bright side, you can easily walk in without an appointment across their massive 50-location network.

Pros

  • Thorough malignancy risk evaluation
  • Highly trained skin care specialists
  • Walk-in appointments accepted
  • Efficient 30-minute laser sessions

Cons

  • Strict 24-hour late cancellation fine
  • Mandatory point-of-service payment

Center City Dermatology stands out for digital mole mapping that tracks subtle changes in your skin over time.

The lead dermatologist finished a dedicated fellowship in cutaneous oncology, giving patients expert care for complex lesions.

Their staff is fully equipped to handle standard excisions in a comfortable clinical setting. They even offer special validation vouchers for reduced parking rates in the busy downtown area.

For serious skin cancer concerns, they even offer direct referral pathways to higher-level clinical groups.

Just be absolutely sure about your schedule before booking any appointments. Missing a standard visit costs $50, while late surgical cancellations carry a steep $150 penalty.

Pros

  • Complete in-house surgical offerings
  • Discounted local garage parking
  • Broad major insurance acceptance
  • Accessible regional office locations

Cons

  • $50 late cancellation fee
  • $150 surgical cancellation penalty

Excellent Dr. Hess, painless mole removal, minimal scarring

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Hess for a few years and he is excellent. I have had 2 pre-cancerous mole removal surgeries that were a bit of scare initially. Dr. Hess was very comforting and the surgery was painless. The scars healed so well too; they are now very thin and insignificant (especially compared to the deep and thick scars my sisters have from similar mole removal surgeries by other dermatologists in the tri-state area). Reception is always kind  and helpful, and they are very quick to get back to me with biopsy results.

3. DERMATOLOGY OF PHILADELPHIA / MOHS SURGERY CENTER, LLC

Address: 200 N 16th St Suite D

Contact: 215-315-3197 | [email protected]

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:00AM–5:00PM

At Dermatology of Philadelphia, your treatment is backed by solid experience. The clinic is founded and led by Dr. Mark Abdelmalek, who holds dual board certifications in dermatology and Mohs micrographic surgery.

Here, the doctors review every single removed tissue margin under an office microscope to maximize diagnostic precision. They also perform all skin surgeries smoothly in an outpatient setting using local anesthesia.

Plus, you can easily communicate with the care team through a direct Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) secure messaging interface.

I recently visited this clinic for a consultation, and the custom musical choices really helped calm my nerves. It’s also great that I was able to update my complete medical history online before the session.

It’s just frustrating that patients get a $50 penalty if you give the clinic less than twenty-four hours of notice.

Pros

  • Safe outpatient treatment delivery
  • Convenient digital medical intake
  • Multiple regional office locations
  • Strong surprise billing safeguards

Cons

  • Strict fifty-dollar cancellation penalty
  • Zero cosmetic insurance reimbursement

Prompt, pleasant treatment for worried patient

I was referred by my general practitioner to have a mole looked at and removed, if necessary. I was welcomed in at the time of my appointment and given pleasant and prompt treatment. I couldn’t ask for better care, especially since I was very worried because several family members have had skin cancer (my sister’s first mole removal was at the ripe old age of 20).

4. SCHWEIGER DERMATOLOGY GROUP – MARKET STREET – RITTENHOUSE

Website: schweigerderm.com

Address: 1900 Market Street, Suite 115

Contact: (215) 666-7340

Hours: Monday 8:00AM–6:00PM | Tuesday 8:30AM–6:00PM | Wednesday 8:00AM–6:30PM | Thursday 11:30AM–5:30PM | Friday 7:00AM–5:00PM

Finding reliable medical support is tough, much like securing dependable home health care in Philadelphia for an aging parent.

Thankfully, Schweiger Dermatology Group centers its entire practice around providing streamlined and compassionate skin care. They operate an enormous specialty care network that easily integrates medical and cosmetic services.

I love how this clinic makes the process easier by ensuring new patients get evaluated within just a few days. Every patient starts with an intensive one-on-one consultation to properly evaluate skin health safety.

The administrative staff even coordinates complex billing paperwork directly with major insurance carriers.

However, be extremely careful when booking cosmetic procedures here. If you cancel a cosmetic slot late, the clinic charges a massive $125 penalty.

Pros

  • Excellent public transit access
  • Personalized initial consultation phase
  • Direct insurance billing management
  • Multi-age group medical coverage

Cons

  • Standard medical late cancellation fee
  • Steep cosmetic cancellation fine

5. DERMATOLOGY PARTNERS – NE PHILADELPHIA

Website: dermpartners.com

Address: 9501 Roosevelt Blvd, Suite 508

Contact: 215-745-5581

Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:00AM–4:00PM | Friday 7:30AM–2:00PM

Dermatology Partners sets itself apart with a fully integrated pathology laboratory to quickly evaluate skin samples from unusual moles.

This internal setup allows their board-certified specialists to provide accurate microscope answers frequently within 24 hours. Containing all tissue preparation internally also eliminates the data exposure risks associated with outside labs.

They also apply structured preventive protocols to protect individuals dealing with complex or fluctuating skin growths.

Another point for convenience is the unique national identification code they give to transparently help patients verify insurance details.

The main drawback is their strict billing policy. In particular, you must register a credit card on file within their data systems to automate post-visit collections, which removes payment flexibility.

Pros

  • Broad commercial healthcare plan alliances
  • Rigorous patient data security safeguards
  • Localized personal data isolation benefits
  • Flexible skin cancer intervention options

Cons

  • Incomplete specific insurance plan inclusions
  • Mandatory credit card registration

Great doctor for terrified 5-year-old

My 5 year old had his mole biopsied here in October. We are always in and out which helps when you have a five year old who’s terrified of doctors. Dr Schoenfeld was great and the office staff is super friendly. I honestly don’t know how he was able to remove the mole with how bad my son was freaking out.
