The 5 Best Dermatologists in Philadelphia for Healthy, Glowing Skin

dermatologists-in-philadelphia
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Medical Credentials: We looked closely at the physician roster to make sure every doctor is fully board-certified. This guarantees you are getting care from someone with extensive, verified training in complex skin conditions.

Treatment Variety: A great clinic should handle medical, surgical, and cosmetic concerns under one roof. We favored practices that offer comprehensive care, so you do not have to bounce between different offices.

Patient Accessibility: Getting an appointment should not take months of waiting or endless phone tag. We checked for flexible booking options, walk-in availability, and wide insurance acceptance to make care easier to reach.

Office Communication: Clear administrative support makes a big difference in your overall medical experience. We prioritized centers that maintain transparent billing practices and follow up promptly with your test results.

Taking care of your skin can feel like a guessing game, especially when you are dealing with persistent acne, stubborn eczema, or a concerning mole.

Whether you need medical treatment for a chronic skin condition or guidance on cosmetic concerns like dermal fillers often offered through aesthetic clinics, having an experienced skin specialist you trust is essential.

If you are searching for the best dermatologists in Philadelphia, you want someone who listens carefully, respects your time, and makes you feel comfortable throughout your care.

We did the heavy lifting and rounded up top dermatologists in the area who combine strong medical expertise with a genuinely patient-focused approach.

Address: 200 N. 16th Street, Suite D

Contact: (215) 315-3197

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

When my cousin spotted a suspicious lesion last year, she ended up at Dermatology of Philadelphia / Mohs Surgery Center, LLC, and she still talks about how supported she felt the whole way through.

This clinic brings together board-certified dermatologists and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons (Mohs micrographic surgery is a precise technique for removing skin cancer layer by layer), which is the level of expertise you want for anything serious.

Their academic background and strong health-system ties also add an extra layer of clinical confidence.

They handle medical, cosmetic, and pediatric care under one roof. This is very convenient since you won’t need to bounce between specialists for different concerns.

Plus, their regional coverage makes scheduling around the city pretty convenient.

Just be ready for the occasional long waiting room visit since overbooking does happen during peak times. Some patients have also flagged surprise billing items, so it is worth confirming charges in advance.

Pros

  • Board-certified dermatologists
  • Fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon
  • Full-spectrum clinical services
  • Central Center City location

Cons

  • Occasional surprise billing items
  • Long waiting room times during peak hours

Dermatologist who truly goes above and beyond

My father got the Mohs procedure done and had such a great experience at this office! Dr. AbdelMalek is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and truly cares about his patients. They took the time to listen to his concerns and explain everything clearly. The entire staff is so welcoming and professional, from the front desk to the nurses, everyone made me feel comfortable and cared for. I’m so glad I found this office and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a dermatologist who truly goes above and beyond!

Made me feel comfortable

This is my first time visiting this office! Hands down the vibes here are chill! The front desk receptionist is very kind and dear. The MA (I forgot her name) and Dr. Shoshana were great listeners which made me feel comfortable. They asked questions and answered any questions I had without confusion. Their plan for treatment gave me a peace of mind. If you’re looking for a dermatologist, I recommend this place to everyone!

Their team is loaded with board-certified specialists and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeons, with backgrounds from places like the University of Pennsylvania.

One of our co-workers has been going here for a recurring scalp condition, and she likes that they have multiple offices across the region. It makes finding a convenient appointment so much easier when life gets busy.

The clinical care has also been solid, but the wait times are something to keep in mind. Some patients have ended up sitting more than an hour past their scheduled slot.

You may also run into the occasional schedule shift that does not get announced ahead of time, so it helps to confirm your appointment a day or two before.

Pros

  • Comprehensive medical, hair, and nail care
  • Fellowship-trained surgeons
  • Multiple regional locations
  • Advanced dermoscopy tools

Cons

  • Extended clinic wait times
  • Last-minute schedule shifts can happen

They are very very good

They are good and patient and understand what’s going on with your skin and if they don’t find out right away, what’s going on with your skin? Address: 822 Pine Street, Suite 2A

Contact: (267) 519-0154

Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM; Friday, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM; Saturday (2 per month), 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Waiting weeks for a skin check can be stressful, especially if you spot something that just does not look right. Schweiger Dermatology Group – Pine Street works around that with same-day, next-day, and extended-hour appointments.

This clinic packs medical, cosmetic, and allergy services into one convenient Center City office, so you can handle a lot in a single trip.

When I called in to ask about availability, the staff were straightforward about prioritizing urgent cases. This is reassuring if you are worried about a recent change in your skin.

Their wider regional network also gives you instant access to a deep roster of board-certified dermatologists.

The catch is the digital booking system. It has glitched on some patients, leading to mix-ups where the system thinks you missed a visit.

A few people have also flagged small admin errors with personal data that caused insurance processing delays.

Pros

  • Same-day appointment availability
  • Extended evening hours
  • Comprehensive allergy care
  • Central Pine Street location

Cons

  • Digital booking system glitches
  • Insurance processing can lag

Customer Reviews

Great, very kind and welcoming

I saw Anna this past Friday for something I felt was an emergency. I chose this place because my regular dermatologist was booked until February, but I was able to book an appointment within the hour here. They don’t accept my insurance, but the prices are very reasonable. Anna was great, very kind and welcoming. Will definitely return in the future, should I have any issues that can’t wait.

Good bedside manner, communicative

Best Dermatologist in the world! Dr. Crawford is extremely professional, knowledgeable, an expert at what he does, and I highly recommend him for any dermatology related matters. Good bedside manner, communicative, and explains everything clearly. He recently found a suspicious mole on the back of my neck that turned out to be malignant, but the surgery was successful. I come all the way from New York City to see him. I am also second generation family continuing to use his services.

4. The Dermatology Specialists – Old City

the-dermatology-specialists-old-city

Website: https://thedermspecs.com/

Address: 225 Market Street

Contact: (215) 395-7546

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM; Saturday to Sunday, 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM

Sorting through health insurance networks can feel like a second job. The Dermatology Specialists – Old City takes a lot of that stress off the table by accepting roughly 96% of plans.

They also offer walk-in availability and a full-spectrum care model that covers medical skin conditions alongside cosmetic treatments.

One of our researchers swung by after work for what she thought was just a dry patch and ended up walking out with a treatment plan the same day. That kind of access is rare in this city.

The Market Street location is also easy to reach by public transit, which is great if you do not want to deal with parking downtown.

Just stay sharp about your specific coverage, since some patients have run into surprise out-of-network charges after treatment.

There have also been complaints about automated card charging and long hold times when calling billing support.

Pros

  • Accepts roughly 96% of insurance plans
  • Walk-in availability supported
  • Full-spectrum medical and cosmetic care
  • Convenient Market Street office

Cons

  • Possible surprise out-of-network charges
  • Long hold times with billing support

I love it

After having such a hard time for so long to see a dermatologist, I could not believe how easy it was to make an appointment online with many options to choose from. I love it! They even accept walk-ins. Dr Lipoff took the time to address all my concerns and I had a few because I waited for so long. I appreciated that he offered simple and inexpensive solutions. I will definitely come back to see him.

When you need advanced care for high-risk lesions, Center City Dermatology, LLC delivers serious expertise. The practice is led by board-certified physicians with fellowship training in cutaneous oncology.

They lean heavily on personalized patient education and customized skin-care plans instead of cookie-cutter treatments, which is a refreshing approach if you have been bounced around before.

We talked to someone who has been going here for psoriasis care. She really appreciates that they offer modern options like biologics, phototherapy, and advanced laser treatments all in one place.

The Walnut Street office is also super convenient for anyone working downtown.

  • Individualized patient education focus
  • Modern biologics and phototherapy options

Cons

  • Peak-hour wait times

Customer Reviews

Well-informed, professional, and has an excellent manner

This was my second or 3rd appointment at CCD. I switched from my prior dermatologist as I felt as though the focus was shifted to primarily plastic surgery patients. I have been pleased with my practitioner, Rylee (not sure of spelling of her name) as well as with the assistant who was present at my last appointment. My issues were some slight eczema which had greatly improved since my prior visit plus scalp dryness. Rylee is well-informed, professional, and has an excellent manner. I am so pleased with this practice.

Took care of everything I needed in one visit

This is the best dermatologist office I’ve been to in Philadelphia. They took care of everything I needed in one visit. Which is unusual. Everyone was so nice. Even though I’m a physician I thought they did a fantastic job of explaining everything about what I needed and what they were doing. I am recommending them to everyone I know.
