I used to think my golf problem was just “a bad swing.” Turns out, it was a whole mix of bad habits—grip, posture, timing… pretty much everything. I’d watch a few videos, try to fix it myself, and somehow end up playing even worse.
At one point, I even blamed my clubs because, obviously, that had to be it, right? Spoiler alert: it wasn’t the clubs. After one especially painful round (the kind where you lose more balls than you hit straight), I finally admitted that I needed real help.
That’s what led me to search for the best golf coaches in Philadelphia—not just anyone, but coaches who can actually simplify things and help you improve without overcomplicating every move.
If you’re tired of slicing your shots or even just feeling completely lost when someone mentions “lag” in your swing, this list has exactly what you need.
How much do golf coaches charge in Philadelphia?
Golf coaches in Philadelphia charge $50–$150 per hour for private sessions. Group lessons or junior rates start at $20, while elite coaches or special training may exceed $200 per hour.

Operating Hours:
- Monday to Thursday – 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- Friday – 6:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday – 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM

Five Iron Golf provides lessons for golfers of all skill levels, from complete beginners to seasoned players. They keep things flexible, too. You can opt for private one-on-one lessons, join a group clinic, or even organize a corporate group event.
Now, let’s be real here: what really elevates Five Iron is their tech. They use TrackMan simulators that break down everything about your swing—ball speed, launch angle, spin rates, you name it.
Plus, they capture multiple angles of your swing on video, so you can actually see where things are going wrong.
If you’re planning to go regularly, the memberships are worth a look. They come with perks like practice time, lesson discounts, and access to leagues.
That said, this is an indoor golf experience. So, if you’re someone who lives for the feel of real grass under your feet or watching the ball soar across the open sky, this might not deliver that same vibe.
I have never been more excited for the upcoming golf season
“Cory Reilly has been incredible in providing lessons. I have played golf my entire life, but have never been able to put the game together. I got 25 lessons from Cory in early January and I am 18 lessons through and I cannot believe the progress that I have made. In 6-7 weeks, I have made more progress than in the 25 years that I have played golf. Every lesson, we make tremendous progress. He is able to identify small intricacies that have an enormous impact in the results of my shot. He also makes sure that I understand his direction, so I can practice on my own to make sure that I am ready for more progress at our next lesson. Cory is also readily available and communicative to answer via text message to understand what you are struggling on when practicing by yourself. If you put the time in, lessons with Cory will transform your game, add confidence to your round and make you enjoy a game that is meant to be enjoyed although can be extremely difficult to do so at points. I have never been more excited for the upcoming golf season because of Cory and 5iron. The rest of the staff including Joseph, Brian, Trevor and Caroline are awesome as well. It is a great community at Five Iron Rittenhouse.”

I encourage anyone trying to improve their game to sign up for membership
“I went to 5 Iron Rittenhouse Square for a swing evaluation. Justin provided excellent feedback. His swing analysis and subsequent lesson suggestions were demonstrated real time and also closely detailed through slow motion video replay, and clear specific suggestions at each point in the swing. He also provided many at-home, practice possibilities and things to consider when practicing the newly taught skills. In my opinion, Justin knows how to quickly assess a person’s best way of learning and adapts his teaching style to fit each specific person. I don’t feel as if he tries to apply a generic template but instead evaluates each individual’s, strengths and learning capacity and adopts an individually tailored approach for well-paced improvement. I would encourage anyone trying to improve their game to sign up for membership and lessons with Justin. The facility is large, modern, bright and clean and everyone working there greets you with enthusiasm and is very willing to provide assistance with the trackman system and the simulator set up.”

2. PGA TOUR Superstore

Address: 2410 Chemical Rd, Plymouth Meeting, 19462
Contact Details: +1 570-719-5322
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday – 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Saturday – 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM
- Sunday – 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
One thing PGA TOUR Superstore does really well is take the guesswork out of improving your game. Their high-tech simulators and launch monitors give you real numbers—ball speed, spin rate, trajectory, and distance.
Students say this approach turns their swings into measurable, actionable changes. You can see exactly what’s working and what needs adjustment.
They take it a step further with video swing analysis, which might be the most eye-opening part of a lesson.
You can keep things personal with private sessions or go for a more relaxed feel with group lessons, depending on what suits you. Personally, I like how flexible it is—you can tailor your experience without feeling rushed.
Another nice touch is how seamlessly club fitting fits into the experience. Using the same data-driven approach, they match equipment to your swing, so you’re not working against your own gear.
But quality like this does come at a price. I noticed that private lessons and fitting sessions can add up quickly, especially compared to more casual local options.
The service I received was second to none and greatly appreciated
“I had a custom club fitting with John Hughes and instructed him to have the club shipped to the store. I ran into a family emergency and would be out of state for a few months. John without hesitation coordinated the shipping of my new driver to me on Long Island within a day. The service I received was second to none and greatly appreciated. When my golf instructor Paul Yoch heard the news he immediately reached out to me. That gesture meant a lot. I can’t say enough of the staff there which is the reason I drive and hour and 10 minutes to go there for my golf lessons.”

I’ve found the instruction to be consistently excellent
“I highly recommend Leigh Taylor at the PGA Superstore in Plymouth Meeting. As a PGA Master Professional, Leigh’s depth of knowledge is immediately apparent. Having completed two individual lessons and a clinic, I’ve found the instruction to be consistently excellent. Leigh has a way of sharing extensive golf expertise in a way that is practical and easy to apply to your game. A true professional!”

Jon Flint Golf provides several ways to learn, tailored to match different goals and skill levels. You can book one‑on‑one private lessons for focused improvement, join group clinics, or even take on-course instruction to work on strategy and real-play scenarios.
What I like most is how Jon blends technology with personal coaching. He uses TrackMan launch monitors, Swing Catalyst force plates, and high-speed video to break down your swing in a way that’s clear and actionable.
For kids and younger players, the junior programs are fantastic. Families often say these sessions build solid fundamental skills, all at a pace that keeps kids engaged.
Lessons take place at Commonwealth National Golf Club, home to excellent practice facilities, including driving ranges, short-game zones, and putting greens. It’s the kind of setup where you can work on every aspect of your game in one convenient place.
However, if you’re opting for a lesson package, it’s worth noting that unused sessions aren’t refundable and need to be redeemed within a year. While this helps keep things organized, it might feel a bit limiting if you have an unpredictable schedule.
Connects instruction to movements or skills I’m already familiar with
“I’ve taken a handful of lessons with Jon, and I’ve seen fantastic improvements in my swing. He has a talent for adapting his teaching style to any level. I particularly appreciate how he connects his instruction to movements or skills I’m already familiar with from other sports. This unique approach makes it much easier to quickly grasp and implement changes. Going to the range to practice used to be a grind and now following each lesson I look forward to it!”

Ascertain each student’s learning style and tailor his language and teaching tools
“Jon doesn’t just teach; he listens, encourages, adapts and inspires. One of his true gifts is that he is able to ascertain each student’s learning style and tailor his language and teaching tools for a unique learning experience. Jon has a way of meeting you exactly where you are. His lessons are as fun as they are educational.”

4. Golf Science Center At Ballers Social Sports

Address: 1325 N Beach St, 19125
Contact Details: +1 215-779-9993
Operating Hours:
- Monday to Saturday – 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Sunday – Closed
If you’ve ever wished you could practice golf without worrying about sun, rain, or freezing winds, Golf Science Center makes it easy.
They have four Golfzon golf simulators that use advanced 3D modeling and ball-tracking, so shots behave just like they would on a real course.
From what I’ve gathered, clients really appreciate how realistic the simulators feel—it makes practicing indoors much more engaging than a typical driving range.
Lessons are designed for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced players. Golf pros like Christian Dahl bring biomechanics-based coaching to the table, helping you understand not just where your swing is off, but why, and how to fix it.
The indoor short-game green is another standout feature. Chipping and putting are often the trickiest parts of golf, but here you can practice them alongside your full swing in the same session.
If you’re planning to visit, keep in mind that both lessons and simulator time typically require reservations, especially during evenings and weekends.
My 8 iron distance went from 120 yards with dispersion to 160 yards
“My first lesson with Chris started with a phone conversation where Chris told me instead of booking for 5 lesson package, take one lesson first and see how I like it. Chris said I may not like him due to his straight forward teaching method and I may think of him as an as*h*** . Chris does not sugar coat anything and teaches golf swing breaking down what you do and correcting problems. You can’t disagree with him since he shows what you do with a instant video feed of what you just did. After 1 year of lessons, my 8 iron distance went from 120 yards with dispersion of a football field to 160 yards all within 15 yards of my target with a baby draw. Most importantly, I understand correct mechanics of a proper golf swing. If you want to get better at golf, Chris is right teacher for you.”

Amazing place with 2 indoor golf simulators that define cutting-edge technology
“If you are a golfer in Philadelphia, you need to have a place to play/practice when the elements interfere (like from November to April). This place is simply amazing with 2 indoor golf simulators that define cutting-edge technology. Everything I do wrong on the golf course (and the few things I do right) are exactly duplicated on these simulators. The place itself is super cool with a “hang-out” type atmosphere, a group of us showed up with a case of beer and a pizza and played golf for 4 hours and had a blast. Additionally, they have “executive friendly hours”- I can work until 8 pm and still pop in to hit 100 balls before they close at 10. I also took a 1 hour lesson with the owner Chris. He was able to correct my ugly slice with just changing my grip slightly. These guys know their stuff.”

5. Will McIntosh Golf

Address: Not Available
Contact Details: +1 267-314-1465
Operating Hours: Monday to Sunday – 8:00 AM to 10:30 PM
Will McIntosh’s coaching goes far beyond basic swing tweaks. He focuses on movement, impact fundamentals, and the mental side of golf, integrating body mechanics and practice strategies so improvements are both practical and sustainable.
He works with a wide range of players—from complete beginners and weekend golfers aiming to break key score thresholds, to competitive juniors or college teams, and even former Olympians and professional athletes.
The lesson options are just as flexible! In addition to private one‑on‑one sessions, Will offers group clinics, corporate or non-profit clinics, and extended sessions that can run several hours with hands-on play and Q&A.
I love that even if you’re not local, you don’t have to miss out—his online academy is a fantastic resource. It’s packed with Fundamentals and Drills Masterclasses, plus a Learning Library that helps you stay sharp between sessions.
Of course, high-quality coaching often comes at a premium tag. Some clients have noted that Will’s private lessons can be on the pricier side compared to basic range instruction, especially if you’re booking regularly.
We will be back to continue developing my son’s game
“I signed my beginner 16yo son up for five lessons with Will. My son not only had a blast working with Will, but he walked away with a solid golf swing. On the last swing of his last lesson, I got to witness my son hit a dead solid perfect drive that banged off of the 250 sign. Just could not ask for a better ending. We will be back to continue developing my son’s game with Will all while having fun.”

Has helped make me a better golfer (13.4 now!)
“Will is an excellent golf coach. He is the first coach that I ever committed to doing multiple lessons with; he did a great job with breaking down my swing to basics and helping me build a much more functional and consistent swing. He’s very honest and frank, which I appreciate. The progression of his lessons is very appropriate too – nothing felt rushed. For context, I’ve been golfing seriously for 5-7 years now and have been around a 15 handicap over the last few years. He has helped make me a better golfer (13.4 now!) and I can’t thank him enough!”
