The Best Van Rentals in Philadelphia for Groups and Gears

best-van-rental-philadelphia
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.
  • Service Range: We looked at the variety of utility vehicles and passenger models available for booking. Agencies with flexible fleets for both commercial transport and personal travel ranked higher.

  • Pricing & Packages: We evaluated the baseline daily rates and standard deposit requirements for each company. Providers that offer transparent insurance coverage and weekly discount packages earned better scores.

  • Location & Accessibility: We mapped out the pickup counters and secondary branch locations across the city. Businesses providing airport access and flexible drop-off hours offer a much smoother customer experience.

  • Staff Credentials: We assessed the overall reliability of the trained customer service teams handling the desk operations. Licensed agencies with strong local support channels ensure you receive quick help during unexpected delays.

Figuring out vehicle logistics in a busy city can quickly turn into a major headache. Family trips require enough space for everyone and their luggage, while business transport often demands room for equipment and efficient loading.

The right van rental comes down to reliability, clean vehicles, and a straightforward pickup process with no surprises at checkout. When those pieces are in place, getting your group or cargo on the road becomes far less stressful.

To make things easier, here are the top van rental options in Philadelphia to help you get where you need to go without the hassle.

How Much Does Van Rental Cost in Philadelphia?

Renting a van in Philadelphia generally costs around $123 per day, though prices fluctuate between $50 and $150 based on vehicle size and the specific agency.

Van TypeAverage Daily Rate
Minivan$50 – $90
Cargo Van$70 – $110
Standard Passenger Van$90 – $130

Address: 1 Arrivals Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19153
Contact: +1 833-338-3321
Schedule: Available 24/7

Picking up a vehicle late at night is rarely a fun task. Thankfully, Enterprise Rent-A-Car stays open around the clock to accommodate late flights and unexpected schedule changes.

We rented a cargo van from them last year for a quick move, and the continuous access completely saved our timeline.

They also maintain specialized neighboring lots that focus entirely on fulfilling large vehicle requests quickly. They also cater well to business logistics by keeping a huge selection of structured commercial fleets.

You can even lock in targeted discounts if you book the vehicle for several consecutive days.

The downside is that those promotional rates only apply if you rent the van for at least three full days. You will also find that the discount strictly excludes extra fees and local taxes.

Pros

  • Flexible off-hours vehicle returns
  • Direct commercial truck integration
  • Fully open weekend schedules
  • Dedicated high-capacity group vehicles

Cons

  • Discounts exclude supplementary taxes
  • Three-day minimum for savings

Customer Reviews

I still choose Enterprise for top-notch service.

I have been using Enterprise for decades when I need a rental in Philly. Each time I travel I do check various search engines for competitive pricing and sometimes Enterprise is not the cheapest, however, I still go with them. Why? Because I know I will be treated with professionalism and kindness from the van driver to the person that mans the exit gate. Not sure how they do it but every single Enterprise employee provides top notch customer service. Thank you again for great service!

Long wait, but accommodating representative reduced costs.

The car was terrific once we got it.  We reserved a mini van for a trip to handle certain number of people and luggage.  Upon arrival to pick up the car at PHL airport there were no mini vans!  Trying to find the Enterprise entrance along the rental strip also presented a challenge and we had to circle around a few times.

While the representative was extremely accommodating and he did make good on a reduction in our rental costs for us waiting so long, we had to wait for about 30 or more minutes for the car.

2. Avis Car Rental

Website: avis.com
Address: 1 Arrivals Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19153
Contact: +1 215-492-0900
Schedule: Monday to Sunday: 6:00AM–10:00PM (24 hour drop off)

Avis supports large travel parties by stocking specialized models capable of holding up to fifteen passengers comfortably.

On top of that, clients can select from several different configurations to perfectly match their specific baggage needs. This makes them a great option for organizing various group tours in Philadelphia with extended family.

They also offer flexible route mapping that allows you to book convenient one-way trips across the region. You will even receive a price match commitment to ensure competitive rates on your reservation.

The major drawback happens when you try to prepay using a debit card. You will face a much higher authorization hold of $250 compared to standard credit card transactions.

Pros

  • Upfront reservation prepayment savings
  • Free airport baggage shuttle
  • 24-hour pickup availability
  • Multiple transit hub counters

Cons

  • High debit card authorization holds
  • Banned prepaid gift card use

Lamont turned a bad experience into a positive.

When I arrived at the Philadelphia Airport rental location, Lamont had a clean van waiting for us ready to go.  He also comped our gas for the inconvenience of having to exchange the van on Christmas Day.  Lamont truly turned a bad experience around into a positive experience.  Admittedly, I frequently rent from a different rental company on trips to Philly, but no more.  I will rent from Avis from now on, thanks to Lamont.

Avis saved the day with an excellent minivan.

After a really bad experience with another car rental company at PHL, Avis saved the day. We reserved and picked up a car in about 15 minutes, got a mini-van that exceeded our expectations, and had an all around great experience with Avis This is my new “go to” for auto rentals, and I will refer everyone I know to use this company.

3. Alamo Rent a Car

Website: alamo.com
Address: 1 Arrivals Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19153
Contact: +1 833-338-3323
Schedule: Available 24/7

Getting stuck in a long rental line after a tiring flight is incredibly frustrating. Alamo solves this completely by offering self-service touch-screen kiosks right at the facility.

This means you can finalize your check-in details and print your agreement without waiting for an available desk agent.

They also let you bypass the standard counter entirely if you load your driver credentials into their online system beforehand.

On top of that, the company automatically waives the standard extra driver fee for your legal spouse or domestic partner. This keeps administrative costs down for couples sharing the driving duties.

The main issue is that younger drivers face stiff financial penalties here. Renters between 21 and 24 years old must pay a mandatory daily surcharge that adds up quickly on longer trips.

Pros

  • Allowed cross-border Canada driving
  • Advance planning promotional discounts
  • Short-notice reservation specials
  • Fixed spring threshold savings

Cons

  • Daily surcharge for young drivers
  • Paid secondary operator fees

Quick and helpful service from Crystal.

Our rental costumer service experience was helpful and quick.

The price was reasonable and there were no issues with getting the van we wanted. A special shout out to Crystal at the Santa Barbara location for being especially helpful and kind.

4. Greenvans 15 Passenger Van Rentals

Website: rentgreenvans.com
Address: 1221 East 4th St, Eddystone, PA 19022
Contact: (833) 903-5192
Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00AM–6:00PM | Saturday Pickups by appointment only

Finding a service that actually delivers the vehicle to you is rare. Greenvans operates a central headquarters locally and provides highly convenient door-to-door handoffs.

One of our researchers coordinated a van for a family trip through them recently. He shared  that the curbside terminal delivery made their arrival entirely stress-free.

What’s even better is that Greenvans also offers remote unlocking options for travelers arriving after standard business hours.

It’s also convenient that you complete all the necessary contractual paperwork digitally before you even step off the plane.

The catch is their very strict booking timeline policies. You must commit to a multi-day minimum duration for all passenger fleet selections. They also require a large upfront payment to secure the reservation.

Pros

  • Allowed cross-border Canada driving
  • Direct terminal staff meetups
  • Short-notice reservation specials
  • Secure deposit verification

Cons

  • Daily surcharge for young drivers
  • Strict multi-day runtime thresholds

Customer Reviews

Greenvans exceeded expectations; pickup and drop-off easy.

Greenvans went above and beyond for us. The customer service was excellent and they’ll be our go to company for rental vans  from here on out.

Pickup and drop off was easy and efficient with very clear directions.

The van was like new and in perfect condition.

Thanks to everyone who helped us out.

Great customer service and clean, spacious vans.

This is my second time using Greenvans and I really enjoy their service. They are my new go to when it comes to 15 passenger vans. My family enjoys riding together for trips and Greenvans made it a whole lot easier. From their great customer service making sure we had everything we needed for a successful rental to the clean and spacious vans. They were even accommodating when we had to arrange for a van pick up time that wasn’t during normal business hours. Thanks again, looking forward to planning another trip and using Greenvans!

5. National Car Rental

national-car-rental

Website: nationalcar.com
Address: 1 Arrivals Rd, Philadelphia, PA 19153
Contact: +1 833-338-3322
Schedule: Available 24/7

National Car Rental feels pretty convenient overall, especially if you’re a loyalty member.

They offer a dedicated processing queue so you can skip the regular customer line, which definitely speeds things up during busy travel periods.

Some locations even have a separate booth right in the parking lot. This makes it easier to handle paperwork outside instead of going into a crowded service building.

We also like the added flexibility they offer, like allowing a spouse to share driving duties. Corporate members can also pick from available vans directly through their designated lane, which adds another layer of convenience.

One downside is the return process. At least at some airport branches, there’s very little flexibility since you can’t drop off vehicles outside of staffed hours. That can be frustrating if your flight or schedule doesn’t line up with their operating times.

Pros

  • Authorized cross-border Canada travel
  • Accessible youth fleet privileges
  • Standard debit card deposits
  • Comprehensive luggage protection packages

Cons

  • No unassisted off-hours returns
  • Expensive daily underage surcharges

Customer Reviews

Perfect van condition, but ruined by smoke.

We love the no hassle pick up and go. The mini van we drove was in near perfect condition except, the prior renter smoked in this no smoking van. My wife and daughter are allergic to cigarette or cigar smoke. During our rental period we tried to air the van out so as to keep them from having an allergic reaction.
