Living in Philly means we’re always on the move, from running along the Schuylkill to hitting the gym with our favorite personal trainers.
Sometimes you just need to slow down and find the best sauna in Philadelphia to melt away the stress. I spent time checking out spots that range from luxury hotels with a pool to hidden gems tucked away in Fishtown.
Whether you’re a fitness junkie or just need a mental break, these spots offer the perfect escape. Here are my top favorites, so you can skip the search and get straight to the relaxing part.
How much does going to a sauna cost in Philadelphia?
Sauna prices around the city depend on how long you stay and how fancy the spot is. You can usually expect to pay anywhere from $30 for a quick session to over $65 for a full day of spa luxury.
| Option | Estimated Price |
| Drop-in Infrared (30-60 min) | $30 – $65 |
| Sauna for Two | $55 – $95 |
| Day Pass (Full Spa/Steam Room) | $55 – $69 |
| Membership Package (4 sessions) | $120 |
1. Formation Sauna + Wellness

Website: https://www.formationsauna.com/
Address: 305 Brown Street
Contact: (267) 324-3193
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Friday-Sunday 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM (By Appointment Only)
There’s something about the dry, searing heat of a traditional sauna that just hits differently than the modern versions.
I recently visited Formation Sauna + Wellness and was struck right away by how authentic the whole vibe feels.
It’s Philadelphia’s first traditional sauna wellness space, so you get the classic heat and steam experience instead of just sitting in a light-based room.
Also, the setup is totally private, which is a big plus for anyone who hates the idea of sharing a bench with a sweaty stranger at the gym.
I tried their cold plunge right after the heat, and the reset was almost instant.
The pricing is a bit steep compared to a standard gym visit, though. A few folks have also mentioned the occasional broken cold plunge.
Still, for a boutique recovery ritual, it’s hard to beat this level of calm.

We will be back
Clean facilities. Experienced masseuse’s. Visited today with my fiancé, we each had a 60 min massage and 90 min sauna session. Sauna session included a cold plunge, private shower, bathroom and changing room. The staff were super friendly and it was 2.5 hours of pure bliss. We will be back.

2. Fusion Spa & Resort

Website: https://fusionsparesort.com/
Address: 250 Byberry Rd
Contact: (215) 681-4444
Hours: Sunday-Thursday 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM; Friday-Saturday 10:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Imagine walking into a massive sanctuary where you can basically travel the world through different heat traditions.
Fusion Spa & Resort is probably the largest multi-experience sauna and thermal spa destination in Philadelphia. It offers everything from a Russian banya (steam sauna) to a Japanese Ganbanyoku (stone sauna).
It feels more like a luxury resort than a neighborhood spa, especially with those outdoor pools and salt rooms. The visual design is stunning and feels very upscale for a weekend hangout.
If you are after a full day of pampering without a membership, this is the spot to disappear for five hours.
The place can get pretty loud and crowded when it is busy, though, which might kill the Zen for some. I also spotted a few minor maintenance issues, like worn benches that could use a little love.

A great variety of saunas
I love, love, love it!!! Super clean and fresh. High-quality towels and robes. A great variety of saunas. It’s not a huge facility, which makes it easy and quick to move between the saunas, pools, restaurant, and changing rooms. The restaurant also has a great menu with reasonable prices. I’ll definitely come back!

3. Sauna PHL

Website: https://saunaphl.com/
Address: 623 N 2nd St
Contact: (610) 630-0123
Hours: Monday, Wednesday 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM & 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM; Tuesday, Thursday 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM; Friday 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM; Sunday 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Sometimes you just want a quiet space where you can sweat in peace without a whole production or a crowd.
Sauna PHL is tucked away inside a chiropractic office and focuses on private infrared sauna therapy, which uses lower temperatures to warm you up from the inside out.
Plus, they include chromotherapy (color light therapy) in the sessions, which is a nice touch for a mental reset.
I talked to a regular here who swears by their private infrared sessions, since the heat is way more manageable than those old-school steam rooms.
It’s a very time-efficient way to get your wellness fix in about 40 minutes before heading back to work.
Just keep in mind there are no showers on-site, so you’ll have to head home to rinse off the sweat. Because it sits inside a medical office, it also lacks that grand spa entrance you might expect elsewhere.

4. dtXfy Infrared Sauna Studio | Manayunk

Website: https://www.dtxfyme.com/
Address: 4328 Main St
Contact: (267) 297-8122
Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Tuesday, Thursday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Saturday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM; Sunday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Tech-heavy wellness is having a moment, and this studio in Manayunk is leaning all the way into that modern recovery model.
What really sets dtXfy Infrared Sauna Studio apart is how they pair infrared sessions with red light therapy and these futuristic 6D massage pods.
It’s not just about sitting in the heat. It’s about stacking different recovery methods into one quick, structured visit.
The private suites are great for anyone who wants a personal experience that feels clean and contemporary. It’s also quite affordable for a boutique spot, which makes it a solid choice for routine post-workout recovery.
If you’re a die-hard fan of high-heat steam saunas, though, you might be a little disappointed, since they only offer infrared technology. It leans more toward a deep, therapeutic sweat than that blast of hot air many traditionalists crave.

It was wonderful
Everyone was very nice and went through the spa and explained all of the benefits of red light and sauna! I purchased the red light therapy and it was wonderful. Having 2 panels in one booth was the biggest advantage this salon has on others! I visited 2 other spas with only one light panel. Second time I took my 2 adult kids for the chair massage and it was wonderful! Thank you so much your spa is a gem!!!!

5. Temazkai

Website: https://www.temazkai.com/
Address: 1206 E Palmer Street
Contact: (445) 264-0823
Hours: Wednesday-Friday 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Saturday-Sunday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (By Appointment Only)
Walking into this Fishtown sanctuary feels like stepping into a centuries-old tradition rather than just a local business.
Temazkai is built around the Aztec temazcal (sweat lodge) ritual, so the experience feels more like a ceremonial reset than a typical gym visit.
They blend this ancient ritual with modern infrared sauna therapy and cold plunges to help you really slow down. The whole focus here is on a mental and emotional pause, which is perfect for anyone feeling burnt out by the city hustle.
Also, the neighborhood vibe makes it feel like a true hidden retreat for those who live nearby.
You do have to be organized, though, because they’re strictly appointment-only. Forget about a spontaneous walk-in. It’s also more of a structured ritual session, which might feel a bit too guided if you just want to sit and zone out.

More than just a sauna
This was more than just a sauna…it was an experience. The energy, the atmosphere, everything felt so intentional and grounding. I left feeling completely reset. Highly recommend to anyone needing a physical and mental recharge!!

Welcome area was beautiful
I had the most wonderful experience at Temazkai! As a sauna enthusiast, I am always exploring new saunas in the philly area and Temazkai did not disappoint. To begin, the welcome area was beautiful and staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The sauna is in its own private room which was spacious enough for me to change and take a breather when I needed. I also found the price point to be very reasonable compared to some other sauna experiences in the city. I loved it and decided to get a membership! Can’t recommend this wonderful small business enough.
