5 Best Greek Restaurants in Philadelphia You’ll Wish You Tried Sooner

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Authenticity: I checked how closely each restaurant sticks to traditional Greek recipes passed down through generations. I focused on places that feel truly Mediterranean, not ones that have been heavily altered for local tastes.

Menu Variety: I looked at how many food options each spot offers, from slow-cooked meats to fresh seafood. I also checked for vegetarian choices so everyone has something to enjoy.

Pricing: I compared prices with the food quality and portion sizes. This helps show if the restaurant is worth the money, no matter your budget.

Service Quality: I paid attention to how welcoming each place feels when you walk in. Good Greek service should feel warm, friendly, and make you feel at home.

If you’re searching for the best Greek restaurant in Philadelphia, you’re in for a real treat. Our city offers a mix of small family-run spots and modern Mediterranean restaurants serving bold, flavorful dishes.

Whether you’re craving authentic Greek food, planning a relaxed family meal, or just exploring Philly, there are plenty of great choices here.

I’ve explored restaurants from those known for grilled meats and fresh seafood to those serving simple comfort meals, so you know where to go next. Let’s explore the top Greek spots in the city!

How much does a Greek restaurant cost in Philadelphia?

1. Zorba’s Tavern

zorba-s-tavern

Website: zorbastavern.com

Address: 2230 Fairmount Ave.

Contact: 215-978-5990

Hours: Tuesday to Thursday 11:30 AM–9:45 PM | Friday & Saturday 11:30 AM–10:45 PM | Sunday 12:00 PM–9:45 PM

Zorba’s Tavern feels like a warm Greek family kitchen right on Fairmount Avenue.

From what I’ve seen, it has been run by the Kravvaritis family in Thessaloniki since 1932, and they still use recipes passed down through three generations.

Also, the restaurant has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere that feels almost like stepping into Europe.

Plus, visitors can try dishes such as Chicken Souvlaki, Fourno, and Soutzoukakia, along with Greek wine and ouzo, thanks to its recent liquor license.

What makes it a nice break from the typical restaurants Philadelphia locals usually visit is that it’s close to the Philadelphia Museum of Art and offers catering and large lunch platters.

Just note that it’s closed on Mondays, and you’ll need to call to book since there’s no online booking system.

Pros

  • Family recipes since 1932
  • Greek wine and ouzo available
  • Catering and private dining
  • Close to Philadelphia Museum of Art

Cons

  • Closed on Mondays
  • No online reservations (phone booking only)

Wonderful Traditional Greek Dining

Wonderful family restaurant serving traditional Greek food at reasonable prices. We enjoyed the roasted lamb and lamb shanks. Very tasty and served with potatoes, rice and vegetables, all served in the traditional Greek style. Cozy dining room and good service. Looking forward to coming back.

Pleasant Atmosphere and Perfect Food

My first time here. The waitress was extremely pleasant.  My food was awesome. Cooked to perfection. If you enjoy authentic Greek food, this is the place. The music and ambiance was great. The restaurant is small but cozy.

Great place to go if you looking for a night out. The restaurant can be casual or romantic.  I will definitely be back.

2. Estia Restaurant

Address: 1405-07 Locust Street

Contact: 215-735-7700 | Fax: 215-501-5913 | [email protected]

Hours: Sunday to Thursday 3:00 PM–8:30 PM | Friday & Saturday 3:00 PM–9:30 PM

Estia Restaurant feels like a calm, upscale escape in Center City. The indoor courtyard stands out with whitewashed walls, a deep blue ceiling, and a real olive tree in the middle.

On top of that, they serve fresh seafood brought in from Greece and pair it with local produce, so every dish tastes light and fresh.

The restaurant is also a favorite among theatergoers, who like the three-course pre-theatre menu before heading to a show.

Also, comparable to the typical sushi restaurants Philadelphia offers, this place feels elegant and relaxed.

However, the restaurant has some strict policies. They don’t accept Apple Pay or Discover, and there are extra fees for bringing your own wine or birthday cake.

Overall, Estia is stylish, but not very flexible when it comes to add-ons or payment options.

Pros

  • Pre-theatre three-course menu
  • Event hosting (6–180 guests)
  • Weekday happy hour
  • Free nearby catering delivery

Cons

  • No Apple Pay or Discover

Packed and Professional Greek Restaurant

At 5:45 on a Friday, this beautiful, very professional and friendly Greek restaurant was packed. It was our first visit, but I quickly understood why it was packed! It was EXCELLENT! We had the Chilean Sea Bass and lamb chops. Both were great, but the lamb chops were truly virtuoso, the best I’ve ever had (medium rare) — and I order them out often. The spanakopita was a fantastic appetizer. The strawberry margarita was P.E.R.F.E.C.T. too. Try it all. You won’t regret it!

Surprising Experience in Center City

I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at this restaurant – it exceeded my expectations!

Located in the heart of center city, the restaurant boasts a spacious interior with a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it perfect for families, couples, or friends.

The menu features classic Greek dishes, and I thoroughly enjoyed everything I tried. The saganaki appetizer was a delightful start, and the moussaka entree was incredibly flavorful.

he service was excellent – the staff were attentive and perfectly timed with their service.

3. Almyra

Address: 1636 Chancellor St.

Contact: 267-876-7070 | [email protected]

Hours: Sunday to Thursday 4:00 PM–10:00 PM | Friday & Saturday 4:00 PM–11:00 PM

Almyra brings a relaxed coastal feel right near Rittenhouse Square, making it a nice escape for dinner and nights out.

When you walk in, you’ll notice the open, bright space with seaside decor inspired by a sea breeze goddess. It feels fresh and airy inside.

I also appreciate that the menu highlights modern seafood dishes meant for sharing, which works well if you’re with a group.

On top of that, the energy builds later in the evening, with a lively bar and a strong sound system, and the staff follow philoxenia, treating guests like family.

I’m just a bit iffy that it opens only in the late afternoon, so no lunch or brunch is available. There’s also a strict evening dress code, so casual outfits like hoodies or sweatpants aren’t allowed inside.

Pros

  • Central Rittenhouse Square location
  • Lively bar with late weekend hours
  • Daily happy hour (4–6 PM)
  • Warm hospitality (philoxenia)

Cons

  • No lunch or brunch service
  • Strict evening dress code

Fantastic Food and Warm Service

Almyra Greek Restaurant in Philadelphia is fantastic. Amazing, authentic Greek food, a beautiful atmosphere, and warm, friendly service. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and you can tell a lot of care goes into every dish. One of the best Greek spots in Philly—highly recommend! 🇬🇷

Favorite Greek-Mediterranean in the City

Almyra is hands-down my favorite Greek-Mediterranean restaurant in the city. From the atmosphere to the menu, everything is a standout! The dirty martini with feta-stuffed olives is divine—an absolute must-try. Their signature cocktails are consistently fantastic, too.

To start, the dip sampler is non-negotiable—perfectly balanced flavors that set the tone for the meal. I’m obsessed with their octopus, tender and perfectly charred, and the duo tartar is simply incredible. For the main, the lamb chops steal the show—crusty, flavorful, and absolutely delicious.

At the heart of it, Tom and his family run the place, giving it a steady local vibe that both regulars and newcomers enjoy.

When it comes to the menu, it’s also very budget-friendly, with affordable classic wraps and clearly labeled vegan options, such as slow-cooked vegetable stews.

A plus for convenience is that it’s open seven days a week, making it a reliable choice whenever you’re hungry.

On the downside, it doesn’t open until noon, so breakfast isn’t available. Drink options are also basic as well, with only simple coffee and tea rather than a wider selection.

Authentic Food and Welcoming Atmosphere

If you’re looking for authentic Greek food with real flavor and a welcoming atmosphere, Souvlaki Restaurant on South Street is definitely a place worth visiting. From the moment you walk in, the environment feels warm, relaxing, and full of culture. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel right at home.

The food is absolutely amazing — fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned meats, and portions that leave you satisfied. The souvlaki is tender and flavorful, the rice and salads are always fresh, and the homemade sauces bring everything together perfectly. Every dish tastes like it’s made with care and tradition.

Delicious Food and Great Service

Had dinner here with my husband and a very dear friend( who’s coworker said that this was the best Greek restaurant in Philly… absolutely correct) The food was delicious, with great service and prices. We were also lucky enough to get parking, directly across the street.

Address: 622 S 6th St.

Kor Mediterranean Table in Philadelphia offers a relaxed fine-casual dining experience with regional Mediterranean flavors. It’s known as a welcoming neighborhood spot for casual meals and date nights.

As for the menu, it blends Turkish specialties with Greek favorites like tzatziki and grilled octopus, giving diners a well-rounded Mediterranean dining experience in Philadelphia.

Another highlight is its creative BYOB setup, where guests can mix drinks using juice mixers like the Bosphorus Fizz.

Weekend brunch also includes olives, cheeses, and Turkish bagels, adding to its appeal as a Mediterranean restaurant in Philadelphia.

That said, the menu leans more toward Turkish kebabs rather than classic Greek dishes like moussaka. Also, parking near Sixth Street can be difficult during busy dinner hours, especially for first-time visitors.

  • Relaxed fine-casual dining vibe

Cons

Great Location and Delicious Food

Great location, delicious food with a warm and cosy ambiance! We loved their cold mezes. The chicken soup was a hit. My daughters love it. Their kids menu also has a lot of options with healthy veggies!

Absolutely Amazing Food and Hospitality

I’d give this place a 10 out of 5. The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish was packed with fresh herbs and surprising flavors. The hospitality was beyond anything we could have hoped for, especially while dining with a toddler. We’ll definitely be coming back whenever we can. Don’t skip the whipped feta with herbs and yogurt with spinach dip.
