Transform your home with the 5 best flooring shops in Philadelphia

We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Material Quality and Variety: I looked closely at the diversity of each shop's selection. It helps to find places that stock durable options able to handle heavy everyday foot traffic.

Pricing Transparency: I checked how clear and upfront each business is with estimates and final costs. Finding contractors who respect your budget without sneaking in surprise fees is key.

Installation Warranties: A good floor is only as reliable as the craftsmanship behind it. I prioritized shops that back their labor with solid, multi-year coverage for real peace of mind.

Local Service Reliability: I looked at punctuality and customer support throughout the installation process. A team that communicates well saves you from unnecessary headaches during the project.

Brand-new floors completely transform how your space feels.

If you’re a homeowner tackling a weekend renovation or a local business owner upgrading a commercial space, finding the right partner for flooring installation is a big deal.

With so many contractors out there, picking the right team can feel a little overwhelming, especially if you care about balancing style and durability.

That’s why I did the heavy lifting to find the options that pair quality materials with reliable installs. Here are the top shops to help you lock in the best flooring in Philadelphia for your project.

Address: 2001 Market St., Suite 2500

Contact: (844) 356-6739

Hours: By appointment only

Getting new floors can be stressful, but this team makes things convenient by bringing a mobile showroom straight to your doorstep. Instead of making you drive across town, Philadelphia Flooring Solutions delivers physical samples and expert consultations to your house or job site by appointment.

Their in-house installation crew handles the actual labor rather than using random subcontractors, and they back their precision work with a two-year guarantee.

On top of that, they double as a full-service home transformation partner if you want help with kitchen and bathroom remodels.

The catch is that they don’t have a traditional walk-in retail storefront in Philadelphia proper. That means you either book a mobile visit or drive out to New Jersey to see their full setup in person.

Pros

Couldn’t be happier with our project

My wife and I couldn’t be happier with picking Philadelphia Flooring Solutions for our home project. We had a very unique situation where some of our original wooden floors in the living room were going to be destroyed with whoever took the project and Luis from Philadelphia Flooring came up with an incredible strategy and now our floors look incredible. Very professional, the best price that was offered between three companies, and professionally installed. I would recommend this group to friends and family!

A true retail experience

It felt like a true retail experience with personalized attention and professional advice. If you’re looking for high quality flooring and a smooth, stress free process, Philadelphia Flooring Solutions is definitely the place to go. From the first consultation to the final install, every interaction felt easy and well managed. The team clearly took pride in their craft and treated our home like it was their own throughout the whole project.

Address: 2536 Castor Avenue

Contact: (267) 777-3037

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM

If you’re looking to restore older hardwood without coating your house in thick sawdust, Philadelphia Modern Flooring is a strong option. The team uses dustless sanding and staining systems to refresh your existing wood surfaces without leaving a cloud of airborne particles behind.

When I spoke directly with a client who hired them, they mentioned how much they appreciated the zero-pressure environment and the practical, budget-conscious guidance during the initial design chat.

The crew also works efficiently, often finishing multi-room installs in just a couple of days.

That said, their strict weekday schedule means they’re closed on Saturdays and Sundays. That can make it tough to coordinate visits or consultations if you work a standard nine-to-five during the week.

Pros

  • Dustless refinishing technology
  • Fast turnaround on local installations
  • Competitive, budget-friendly pricing
  • Residential and commercial options

Cons

  • No weekend hours
  • Challenging street parking in high-traffic area

Angel and his team were fantastic. Incredibly responsive, detailed, and knowledgeable. They had a vast selection of replacement options and replaced the carpet in our office quickly and efficiently. The room looks so much better! I highly recommend working with them. They’re on our speed dial for any future flooring work. From start to finish, the whole process felt smooth and well organized, and they kept us in the loop the entire time.

Website: https://shop.carpetmart.com/

Address: 201 Franklin Mills Circle

Contact: (215) 278-4292

Hours: Monday, 9:00 AM-8:00 PM; Tuesday-Saturday, 9:00 AM-6:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM-5:00 PM

Finding a massive selection that fits a tight budget can be tough, but this long-standing outlet solves that problem easily. Operating locally since 1895, Lomax Carpet & Tile Mart Outlet keeps prices competitive by sourcing quality overstock products and remnants.

They run a big warehouse showroom near the local mall where you can see major brands in person before committing.

Because the team keeps close ties with area contractors, they can often get your new floors fully installed within a single week, backing the labor with a two-year warranty. It’s an ideal stop before you call in the movers to bring in your furniture.

Just be aware that if you change your mind later, their return policy leaves you responsible for any installation and removal fees. There’s also a tight three-day return window on remnants, which adds a little pressure to your decision.

Pros

  • Deep local expertise since 1895
  • Quick installations within a single week
  • Massive warehouse showroom to browse
  • Two-year installation warranty on labor

Cons

  • Installation and removal fees applied on returns
  • Tight three-day return window for remnants

Outstanding customer service

Rob McGillen provided my husband and I outstanding customer service. After our house was heavily damaged in a washing machine flood, Mr. McGillen went above and beyond to assist us in selecting flooring, carpet, and area rugs. He also provided assistance with hiring contractors for installation. If you need carpet or flooring, please visit Lomax in Northeast Philadelphia and ask for Rob McGillen. He turned a stressful disaster into something we could actually manage step by step, and his guidance helped our home come back together quickly.

We had the easiest time picking out the floor

We had the easiest time picking out the floor that we wanted. Tom was so helpful but he wasn’t overbearing at all. He gave us the information we needed for everything and had great recommendations but he didn’t follow us around and make us uncomfortable. This was a great experience for us and we were in and out and got what we needed so quick. I will come here every time I need any flooring and I will recommend anyone I know to also come here. Tom was great and I could not be happier.

4. Avalon Flooring

Website: https://www.avalonflooring.com/

Address: 48 Snyder Ave

Contact: (267) 236-1600

Hours: Monday-Saturday, 9:30 AM-6:00 PM; Sunday, 11:00 AM-5:00 PM

Shopping at a business where the workers genuinely care about your project makes a real difference. Avalon Flooring is an employee-owned showroom that operates as a full-scale design hub where you can browse hardwood and imported tiles in one spot.

I actually visited their setup recently to check out the materials, and the level of seasoned expertise from the staff was easy to spot.

They also offer a three-year installation warranty on residential projects, which provides nice long-term security compared to standard retail offers.

The team handles comprehensive project management, guiding you through measurements and delivery without much fuss.

On the downside, their curated selection comes with a higher price tag that can run well above basic mass-market alternatives.

Their showroom also uses a rigid sales representative assignment system, which can lead to frustrating wait times if your designated associate is busy.

Pros

  • Strong local track record
  • Comprehensive end-to-end project management
  • Exclusive styles through the Shaw network
  • Three-year residential installation warranty

Cons

  • Higher premium pricing for curated materials
  • Rigid sales representative assignment system
  • Strict return policies on special orders

Helped us choose the perfect hardwood

Myles is nothing short of magnificent! We changed our minds a few times, but he helped us choose the perfect hardwood, tiling, and backsplash for a renovation. Highly recommend him, he’s very friendly and knows his stuff! He was patient through every back-and-forth and never made us feel rushed, even when we kept second-guessing our color choices. The whole experience felt collaborative instead of pushy, which is exactly what we needed for a big renovation like ours.

Great design ideas and suggestions

I started my flooring search at the Snyder Avenue showroom. I was able to select hardwood flooring for the apartment. I also found wonderful Italian porcelain floor and wall tiling for the kitchen and bathroom. My sales consultant, Catherine, offered great design ideas and suggestions for the layout of the bathroom tile. She made the entire selection process feel approachable and even fun, and her recommendations matched my style perfectly. I left the showroom feeling confident about every choice I made.

5. Bell Floor Covering

bell-floor-covering

Website: https://www.bellfloorcovering.com/

Address: 1050 North 2nd Street

Contact: (215) 925-3089

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM; Saturday, 8:30 AM-2:00 PM

If you want to work with a team that knows local building architecture inside and out, Bell Floor Covering is a solid pick.

Serving the community since 1936, they have a large local inventory that lets them fulfill and ship orders quickly.

They’re highly skilled at tracking down material matches for older townhomes, and they often offer good discounts on high-end overstock for compact spaces.

Their full-service project management covers everything from moving heavy furniture to the final install, which makes it simple to coordinate before booking your regular cleaning services.

Unfortunately, they enforce a strict 30-day return policy on any extra material or overages. Since unexpected renovation delays happen often, that rigid timeline might leave you stuck holding extra boxes you cannot refund later.

Pros

  • Deep historical expertise since 1936
  • Big in-stock inventory for fast shipping
  • Full-service delivery and furniture moving
  • Heavy discounts on premium overages

Cons

  • Rigid 30-day return window on extra materials
  • Occasional communication and punctuality gaps

Floors within five days

Wow! Stopped into this store looking for hardwood floors. Huge selection, so many options to choose from. And we had an issue where we needed the floors shipped to us immediately. Everyone else was two to three weeks out, but Bell Flooring made it happen! We had the floors within five days. And the floors look awesome! The whole team treated our timeline like it was their own, and the install itself went smoothly without any of the usual hiccups you expect on a rush job.

Excellent customer support

I like to shop local and support my neighborhood as much as possible as long as the quality is up to my high standards. Bell Flooring had all those items checked. The customer support was excellent. The entire team helped me pick out the exact wood floor I was looking for. They never rushed me through the process and answered every random question I had about durability and care. It felt like working with neighbors who actually cared about the outcome of my project.
