We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Menu Variety: We looked for spots offering way more than just salads. Our goal was to find places with creative, flavorful plant-based dishes you’ll actually get excited about.

Ambiance and Atmosphere: We paid attention to the vibe and design, since the right setting can make a simple meal feel special or turn dinner into a fun night out.

Price Point: We made sure to include options for every budget, from casual and affordable bites to fancy splurges, so everyone can find a great spot no matter what they want to spend.

Location Accessibility: We also assessed how easy it is to get to each restaurant, focusing on places that are simple to reach by public transit or on foot around the city. Finding your next favorite meal shouldn’t be a hassle.

Finding an amazing vegetarian restaurant in Philadelphia is easier than ever now that plant-based dining is completely exploding. The local food scene in the city has evolved far beyond basic side salads and bland tofu blocks.

Today, talented local chefs are turning fresh, seasonal ingredients into spectacular dishes that can please dedicated vegans, curious meat-eaters, and everyone in between.

If you’re craving a quick lunch or planning a fancy night out, you’ll have no shortage of choices. We spent weeks eating our way through different neighborhoods to discover the absolute best plant-powered spots in town.

Address: 1221 Locust St.

Contact: 215-320-7500

Hours: Tuesday to Thursday: 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Friday & Saturday: 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM

Vedge is perfect if you’re after a high-end vegetarian spot in Philly. Their chefs are award-winning and turn every dish into art, ensuring each plate features vibrant seasonal veggies and exciting flavors from all over the world.

You can sit down to an impressive multi-course tasting menu or swing by for happy hour with creative snacks and clever cocktails. They also serve an incredible dessert menu, including blueberry cheesecake and carrot cake!

On the downside, their heavy focus on upscale tasting menus means they don’t cater to guests looking for a quick, casual meal. They definitely belong on Philly’s fine dining restaurant list because of their incredible atmosphere and high price.

Pros

  • Run by award-winning chefs
  • Seasonal multi-course tasting menus
  • Specialized happy hour snacks
  • Diverse plant-based dessert options

Cons

  • Upscale tasting menus; not ideal for quick dining

Enjoyed everything we ordered

Went there for my partner’s birthday dinner. The staff was extremely friendly and super accommodating of our daughter and her stroller. The food…. phenomenal. I’m not vegan/vegetarian and enjoyed everything we ordered. The BBQ carrots may have been my favorite. Although the corn fritters and stuffed avocado we’re just as amazing.

I loved that everything was vegetarian

Vedge was phenomenal. Each dish was a surprise and totally unexpected. The portion sizes are small, and the menu has been designed so that you have multiple courses.

I loved that everything was vegetarian and there was so much to choose from. The flavours were unique. Vedge is a great restaurant for a special occasion and I’d happily go back again.

They don’t just stick to classic drinks, since they also have excellent zero-proof options and a late-night menu that runs right up until closing.

When we visited, everyone was seriously impressed by their exclusive single-barrel bourbon flights, which had incredible depth and flavor.

Just keep in mind that the kitchen shuts down an hour before the whole place closes. If you come in late, the food options are pretty limited, so plan if you want a full meal with your drinks.

Cons

  •
  • Limited late-night food variety

Such a pleasant experience. Booked a reservation and got sat immediately at my time. By no means am I vegan or vegetarian, but I absolutely loved everything I was served. I tried at least 12 dishes, favorites were Korean Style Fried Tofu and Potato Croquettes. Everything is tapas so perfect for sharing. Loved the Silver Monk cocktail, good price for a quality drink. Can’t wait to recommend and return.

The food was awesome

I am a non vegetarian all the way, but this place blew me away WOW! The food was awesome.

Much better than VEDGE resturant.

Just make sure you request for inside sitting on chilly days.

12/10 would recommend

Horror + Vegan?! PARADISE FOR ME. Monster Vegan is one of the best meals I’ve had. I had one goal in Philly: find a vegetarian or vegan cheesesteak and Monster Vegan had TWO on their menu! Loved the neighborhood and the whole vibe of this place. We ordered the cheese steaks plus some spicy fries for the table and everything was so delicious.

Our server was adorable and friendly and the staff was so attentive and accommodating.

12/10 would recommend and will be coming back again next time I’m in Philly!

This place was so satisfying

Delicious!  I am not vegan or vegetarian and this place was so satisfying.  The variety of choices in apps and entrees was fabulous! I loved the vegan philly!!! The service and the vibe is fun and relaxed!  You must go!

Hours: Tuesday to Friday: 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Saturday to Sunday: 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM

If you want a cozy neighborhood spot, Fitz on 4th provides a wonderful dining atmosphere. They’re a family-owned restaurant serving a fully plant-based menu of farm-to-table tapas and delicious cocktails.

What makes them stand out is how they track and share their specific environmental impact, letting you know exactly how much water was saved and how much carbon dioxide (CO2) was avoided during your dinner.

Plus, they feature pet-friendly outdoor dining tables for well-behaved companions and allow all signature cocktails to be adapted into non-alcoholic mocktails.

But you should know that if you select a fixed-price dining option, the entire table must participate. This rule can be restrictive if your group prefers ordering individual small plates.

Pros

  • Family-owned tapas concept
  • Tracks precise ecological impact
  • Pet-friendly outdoor seating area
  • Adaptable non-alcoholic drink options

Cons

  • Fixed-price menu restricts groups

A true gem worth visiting

Fitz on 4th is a standout in Philadelphia for anyone interested in thoughtful, elevated vegan cuisine. The dishes are full of flavor and feel like complete meals—not just substitutions or sides. The cocktails are just as impressive, offering creative twists on classic recipes. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is attentive without being overbearing. Whether you’re vegetarian, vegan, or just curious about plant-based dining, this place is a true gem worth visiting.

The food was outstanding

I’ll start this review by saying I’m not vegan or vegetarian. But after eating at Fitz on 4th it’s a possibility. The food was outstanding and the restaurant was beautiful. Staff was very friendly.  Highly recommend, even if you’re not vegan.

5. The Tasty

Website: http://www.thetastyphilly.com/

Address: 1401 S. 12th St.

Contact: 267-457-5670

Hours: Wednesday to Sunday: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM

If you’re looking for a cozy breakfast spot that brings back classic diner vibes, you’ll love The Tasty. Here, they serve all-day breakfast and plant-based baked goods.

The real highlight is their rotating selection of vegan donuts. In fact, a local told us they taste just like the traditional bakery ones she grew up with.

Aside from that, they also work as a full coffee shop. If you’re used to the sleek and polished feel of sushi restaurants, this place is a totally different experience, serving up friendly nostalgia instead.

Just remember, they’re only open from morning to early afternoon, so it’s not the place for a late dinner.

Pros

  • Classic comforting diner atmosphere
  • Daily rotating vegan baked goods
  • Full specialty coffee shop service
  • Breakfast menu served all day

Cons

  • Only open until early afternoon

The Tasty stands out

There’s no shortage of amazing vegetarian spots in philly so the fact that the tasty stands out should say A LOT!!! the dining floor is small so get here early if you want to eat in unless you don’t mind a bit of a wait. staff is great, decor is adorable, and menu is has the right amount of food on it; there’s enough variety but they clearly also know what they do best and have perfected it!

The best vegan donuts in Philly

Some of the best vegan food i’ve ever had. the deluxe breakfast burrito never disappoints and in my opinion they make the best best vegan donuts in philly. i also LOVE supporting businesses that are vocal about SUPPORTING PALESTINE 🍉 and not funding a genocide.
