The 5 Best Dentists in Philadelphia for a Brighter Smile

dentists-in-philadelphia
We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Service Variety: I looked for clinics that handle everything from basic check-ups to advanced oral surgery. This ensures you can stay with one provider as your dental needs change over the years.

Pricing Transparency: I prioritized offices that offer clear pricing or in-house membership plans for patients without insurance. It’s important to know what you’re paying for before you sit in the chair.

Location Accessibility: I selected spots across different neighborhoods to make sure there’s a convenient option for everyone. I also considered factors like parking and proximity to public transit.

Staff Expertise: Every dentist on this list has a strong reputation and the necessary licensing to provide safe care. I checked for additional certifications and years of experience in the field.

Finding a reliable dentist in Philadelphia that locals actually like can feel like a massive chore, especially when you’re just trying to keep your teeth healthy without breaking the bank.

I spent a lot of time wandering through different neighborhoods, from Center City to South Philly, looking for clinics that actually make you feel comfortable in the chair.

Whether you’re a parent looking for a kid-friendly spot or a professional wanting to brighten your smile, the right office makes all the difference. I put together this guide to help you skip the stress and find a team that fits your life and your budget.

You might even find a naturopath or home health care in Philadelphia for a relative while exploring these local areas.

How much does going to a dentist cost in Philadelphia?

Figuring out your budget is a smart first step, so I checked out the typical rates for common procedures around the city.

Tooth Extraction$146 – $300+

“Definitely weill continue to come here”

Love coming here! Always really clean and usually get checked in almost immediately. I don’t really enjoy coming to dentist because I don’t like oral pain but Dr.Lyle is amazing! She always makes sure I’m comfortable and lets me know what’s she’s doing before doing it so I know what to expect. The front desk is also amazing! I’ve been here often the past few weeks and they always greet me.  Definitely will continue to come here.

“You really get that neighborhood feeling…”

I absolutely love this office. I see Dr Alvin Zad and his assistant/office manager Kierstin who is lovely and beyond helpful. They have made something that is terrifying for me such an easy and smooth experience. I love the front desk girls Gabby and Maly who help with treatment planning. The office is clean and you really get that neighborhood feeling. I wouldn’t go anywhere else, regardless of my commute time. Shout out to you guys!

2. Walnut Street Smiles

Website: https://walnutstreetsmiles.com/our-office-philadelphia-pa/

Address: 1601 Walnut St Unit 1025

Contact: (215) 564-1025

Hours: Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM

If you want a smile that looks like it belongs on TV, Walnut Street Smiles is a top-tier choice led by Dr. Ronald Goldenberg. He’s actually the official dentist for the Philadelphia Eagles, so you know the standards here are very high.

They use a CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scanner right in the office, which allows them to perform same-day dentistry for things like crowns.

And I love that they partner with a local Montgomery County lab to make their custom veneers right here in the USA. This ensures your dental work is high-quality and made to last.

However, since the office is right in the heart of Center City, the parking situation can be a real headache during the workday. So, if you choose this office, you might want to take the train or budget extra time for the garage.

Pros

  • Official Eagles dentist
  • On-site CBCT scanner
  • Local USA-made crowns
  • All specialties under one roof

Cons

  • Difficult downtown parking

I had a wonderful experience here. The hygienists and dentists were exceptionally professional and friendly, and they took the time to share valuable knowledge about best dental practices with me. They also successfully treated my periodontitis, and I truly appreciate the high level of care I received!

Center City Emergency Dentist has been a fixture in the community for over 65 years, offering everything from oral surgery to cosmetic fixes.

I actually spoke with a staff member here recently, and they emphasized how much they focus on helping anxious patients feel at ease. They provide sedation and sleep dentistry options, which is a massive relief if you have a fear of the chair.

Booking a visit is super easy because you can just shoot them a text message to set things up.

One slight inconvenience, however, is that the office is located on the 6th floor of the building, so you have to navigate an elevator to get inside. But once you’re there, the team of specialists makes it worth the trip.

Pros

  • Over 65 years of trust
  • Text message booking
  • Sedation dentistry options
  • Internal dental specialists

Cons

  • Located on the 6th floor

Contact: (215) 632-7700

Hours: Monday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM; Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM; Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Philadelphia Mills Dental Center is located right inside the mall at Entry 4, making it incredibly easy to visit while you’re out running errands. I stopped by this mall location while doing some shopping last week and was impressed by how modern it feels.

Dr. Alexander Zilberman leads the team. They’re especially known for handling advanced oral surgeries like bone grafting and implants. They also run a really solid special for new patients that covers a check-up and a professional cleaning.

They stay open late until 8:00 PM on Mondays, which is perfect for catching an appointment after you finish work.

Just keep in mind that the mall can get very crowded during the holidays, so parking might be a challenge during peak shopping seasons. Still, it’s one of the most convenient spots in the area for restorative care.

Pros

  • Convenient mall location
  • Late Monday hours
  • Advanced oral surgery
  • New patient specials

Cons

  • Busy mall parking

“Made my concerns feel heard…”

I haven’t been here in a couple years. I went back for a routine cleaning, and I was immediately seen. Irena was so prompt and polite. She did my cleaning very well. The doctor was also thorough & informative— made my concerns feel heard. Maggie at the front is also very nice and welcoming. Most of all I left there with my teeth cleaned well and I’m happy to be back!

“The dentist was great”

I have been very pleased with every service that I’ve received there this past year or so. This time was a little more detailed. I had dental surgery for implants. The dentist was great. (Dr. Eyzips), very considerate and always checking to see how I was doing. The young lady that handled the drainage and clearing my mouth was excellent. And they sent me home with instructions and prescriptions for antibiotics and pain. All in all, so far I’m very happy with the way everything was handled.

5. Whitman Dental Center

whitman-dental-center

Website: http://whitmandental.com/

Address: 2326 S 3rd St

Contact: (267) 930-2506

Hours: Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM (Closed for lunch: 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)

Down in South Philly, Whitman Dental Center provides a very compassionate and family-friendly atmosphere. Dr. Mahesh Solanki and his team are big on continuing education, often spending up to 60 hours a year sharpening their skills.

They offer a really helpful $110 emergency exam special that includes digital X-rays, which is great if you’re in sudden pain.

For those without traditional insurance, they have an in-house membership plan to keep routine care affordable. They also accept flexible payment plans through services like CareCredit, so you don’t have to pay everything at once.

The only real downside is that they’re completely closed on Saturdays and Sundays, which can be tough if you work a standard work week. Also, they close for lunch every day, so you have to plan your visit around that one-hour break.

Pros

  • Emergency exam special
  • In-house membership plan
  • Flexible payment options
  • High education standards

Cons

  • Closed on weekends
