We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

Quality of Work: We began by evaluating how well each groomer performs actual trims. We reviewed before-and-after photos and read honest client reviews.

Care and Handling: We focused on how groomers manage dogs with anxiety or special needs, including first-time clients. This includes their approach and calming techniques.

Services Offered: We also compared grooming packages, from basic baths to full cuts and de-shedding treatments. Top salons offered nail trimming and coat-specific styling all in one session.

Sanitation and Safety: We checked each salon’s sanitation routines, drying methods, and crate policies.

Consistency: We sought reliability from groomers who consistently keep pets looking great every visit.

As a busy professional, it’s always tough to see your pups missing out on a bath just because your schedule is packed. Truth be told, our little pup Thunder started itching terribly, and his hair ended up on every piece of furniture in the house.

By that point, I knew it was time to look into professional dog grooming services in Philadelphia. Grooming makes life easier for both pets and owners while keeping your home tidy and your pup comfortable.

If you’re in the same boat, don’t worry. We’ve found a few grooming salons in the city that actually get it right. Keep reading to discover places that know how to keep dogs calm and happy.

How much do dog grooming services cost in Philadelphia?

In Philadelphia, the cost of dog grooming services starts at $40, depending on the size and coat type. However, prices may vary for more comprehensive services, such as heavy de-matting, coats that require extra work, or even mobile grooming.

They offer everything from full grooms and breed cuts to de-shedding and tidy face work. You can even request creative styles, such as dye or airbrushing, for something fun and unique.

What sets them apart is their gentle approach to dogs. They know how to handle nervous pups and first-timers, keeping the place calm and friendly. The shop itself feels cozy, more like a living room than a salon, which helps pets settle easily.

They even take safety seriously. They check vaccination records and maintain a clean environment. Even better? If you have cats, they can groom them too, including lion cuts and simple trims.

Booking online is easy, and confirmations are quick. The only minor downside is that prices are quoted over the phone, which can slightly delay the process.

  • Easy online booking

Cons

  • Pricing is only available by phone call

Compassionate and patient team

“We are so fortunate to have found Spot’s Spot. We bring both of our wheatens there, and they’ve gotten great haircuts each time. They always come home happy and relaxed. Our youngest boy Tex is quite difficult behavior wise, and Phillip and his team are so incredibly kind, compassionate, and patient with him. We will never go anywhere else as long as we live in Philadelphia”

Reasonable price

“Milo is my baby mini Cavapoo and has white curly thick coat. Spot’s Spot takes care of him every time and my favorite stylist is Dan, I love how much care he takes with Milo and I see the dramatic difference in Milo’s appearance every time. Milo’s coat is White and tends to get yellowy and dingy also experience’s metabolic tears in his eyes. Dan play the very well and cuts Milo’s face with a poodle face and crafts it into a nice low-cut without cutting too short and keeps his fantail long. I recommend this cut for those with any poodle type breed. Also a reasonable price and Milo is a happy customer and so am I.”

Fun first visit with a five-month pup

“This was our first time at a groomer and we had the best experience! Our dog is a 5 month old puppy and she was treated so well during her visit. Sally’s creates a calm, safe, and fun environment for the dogs in their care. We will definitely be back! 💕”

Best dog grooming experience

“Best dog grooming experience Pancake had had in a couple of years! From start to finish, things went great. Pancake immediately made friends with the other dogs when we walked in. His nails were perfectly trimmed. Others have over-trimmed his black nails, which wrecks his trust. And they gave him the cutest bandana! Finally, he smelled good for days!”

Steady care you can count on

“I have been bringing my dog Bello here for his grooming for over a year now and have always been very happy with the service and staff who work on him. They take their time and work with me to keep him calm through the process. He can be a challenge with his anxieties to grooming. I am grateful to have found a great place I can count on for his grooming needs and my piece of mind in the process.”

They were amazing

“They were amazing! We took our 3 year old golden retriever there to get trimmed up after having never been groomed before. They did a great job and he is so much lighter, cleaner, and far less scruffy looking. Owner was extremely nice and accommodating. They got him in for an appointment quickly.”

With all the best options around, we settled on Paw Prints Professional Grooming, and it did not disappoint. They offer full-service grooming for all sizes, including cats, and live up to their motto: “large or small, we groom them all.”

What really makes them stand out, though, is their self-serve bathing area with private rooms where you can do a quick wash and skip the wait. It’s a smart setup that gives pet owners more control and flexibility.

Now, the self-serve wash does mean you’ll be doing the bathing yourself, which might not work for owners who prefer a full hands-off visit. However, it’s a small trade-off for the convenience it provides.

Still, what balances it out is the shop’s family-run charm that brings a cozy and welcoming vibe. They also offer thoughtful extras such as first-time coupons and add-ons like nail clipping, polish, and flea or tick care.

Their warm service and practical setup keep customers coming back. It’s clear why locals, including us, keep coming back.

Pros

  • Offers full-service grooming for all sizes
  • Provides a self-serve bathing area
  • Cozy, family-run atmosphere
  • Includes thoughtful add-ons
  • Gives first-time clients extra value

Cons

  • Requires owner participation for self-serve baths

Four years of consistent grooming joy

“I can’t say enough good things about Abbie at Paw Prints. I’ve never admired a picture as much as the one of Jorja after a grooming with Abbie. I had to write this review after staring at it for too long and just wanted to show my appreciation. I’ve been going to Paw Prints for nearly 4 years and every time I pick up Jorja, I am consistently happy with the results :)”

– Michelle M, Google Review

Low-stress first groom

“Absolutely thrilled with my first grooming experience with Paw Prints. Incredibly friendly and welcoming owner and staff, easy scheduling, reasonable fees. Abbie did a fantastic job grooming my Samoyed, Mochi, into an adorable floof. I could tell it was a pleasant and low stress experience for my dog and I could not be happier. She literally looks like a stuffed animal. We will be coming back every two months because I can’t believe how cute and happy my dog is after her groom!”
