Indy Hall earned a spot on our list because it doesn’t quite have the feel of your average coworking space. It’s kind of like one large communal living room where everyone is working on something different but is happy to greet each other.

The amenities are not flashy but are exactly what you need: good WiFi, phone booths, comfortable chairs, and a kitchen with reasonably good coffee and tea.

Flexible membership options are offered as well. They have unlimited access and 4 or 8 days a month, accommodating different work styles and schedules.

One member we spoke with has been working from Indy Hall for over five years and said they’ve made real friends there—people who’ve helped them with client leads or even joined them on passion projects.

The only downside we noticed was that it can get a bit loud in the common areas. If you need silence to focus, the quieter rooms of phone booths are a better bet.

“Large, secure, and comfortable coworking space with a vibrant in person and Discord-based  community of professionals. Thoughtful and committed organizers give this space a soul that motivates members to get involved in the space and take advantage of its many different types of events instead of just work silently. Being equipped with standing and sitting desks already puts it ahead of most other options in the area. Easy access to local restaurants and public transit. Amenities include free coffee, tea, creamer, oatmilk, make-your-own espresso, condiments and public puzzle assembly. Call rooms available for private calls and conference rooms for larger meetings. Regular happy hours and gatherings for all interests. Highly recommend.”

We checked out WeWork to see if it actually lives up to its ‘business first’ claim. Walking in felt like stepping into an upscale office—super polished and definitely gave off a professional vibe.

What stood out to us was the level of convenience. Aside from high-speed WiFi, they have a bunch of business-class printers, scanners, and copiers around. We found this really helpful for people who are constantly printing stuff and don’t want to keep running to a copy shop.

We also love WeWork’s flexibility—not just in terms of membership plans but also in how easy it is to work from different locations. One member we spoke to, who frequently moves between cities, appreciated how consistent the setup is across WeWork spaces.

The only thing that didn’t sit quite right with us was that the area didn’t really have any personality. It’s functional, but it’s not truly “homey.” I couldn’t sense people being there to network or co-work so much as to get their work done and leave.

“Great place to work at. Coffee provided until 4 pm, and beer provided all day. This place has a startup atmosphere, and it encourages a collaboration atmosphere. The courtyard downstairs is beautiful, and this place is easy to get to for your commute as well.”

Bond Collective stood out to us because its interiors are so well-designed that you want to spend time there, not just get work done.

We love that they’ve packed in so many great amenities. They’ve got unlimited black-and-white printing (so handy when you’re on the go), and the showers with towel service are a cool touch for anyone who needs to freshen up between meetings.

We were also impressed that they offer snacks, a weekly breakfast, and fresh fruit to make the day less of a grind. Many of the members we talked to said they really appreciate these little extras.

If there’s one drawback, it’s that some common areas can get a bit congested at peak times, such as mid-morning and early afternoon. The private offices are perfect if you need a quiet spot to focus.

We toured several co-working spaces in Philadelphia and eventually landed on Bond Collective for the amenities, beautiful space, cost, and overall vibe.  Now that we are utilizing the space regularly I have to say that it has exceeded our expectations.  The various communal working spaces are never crowded.  I have never had difficulty finding a private meeting space to take a call/virtual meeting.  And the process for reserving a meeting room has been easy and accommodating.  It is perfectly located at Suburban station and in the heart of Center City.  Bond Collective gets our company’s full endorsement.”

“Staff, facilities, supplies, co-workers, all 5 starts. Our clients and partners love to come and visit because they think this is the best co-working space in the area – I agree. Happy hours are frequent but not too much to disturb working dynamic. We have Bagel Mondays and Parfait Tuesdays every other week. Staff is always there to support us with anything – trust me, anything. And yes, we have an amazing city view.”

The Yard is a coworking community with changing art installations and stunning city vistas in Philly. It hosts local artists with seasonal receptions, providing a dynamic and inspiring environment.

What really sold us, though, was the 24/7 access. We’re not 9-to-5ers, so having the ability to swing by whenever is a big selling point. Some members we spoke with were also excited about that, particularly with tight deadlines or flexible schedules.

A downside noted, however, was that the noise levels can be distracting and make it hard to concentrate during work time. 

A few members claimed that the open floor plan could be part of the lack of privacy, which may not be perfect for those requiring a more concentrated space.

Welcoming coworking space with great amenities

The Yard is a very welcoming co-working environment with a variety of spaces to get inspired in. They offer some great free perks such as coffee, tea from one of their tenants, drinks, and WiFi to list a few. The space really enhances collaboration but also allows for a more private work space if needed. A true highlight is the roof deck on level 5 complete with sweeping views of Philadelphia.

The staff are welcoming and will bend over backwards to ensure that all of your needs are met (within reason). For example, I needed to print something out in order to be fully prepared for a training I was in town to conduct. When I asked where the nearest kinkos was, Dan, the manager, said don’t be silly, I’ll print out what you need here! What a life saver.

Overall this is a great space to pop into if you need work room for a day, a week, or on a more permanent basis. Highly recommend! Thank you for your hospitality new friends.”

“We have tried for YEARS to find an affordable, clean and more importantly FRIENDLY! office space. The others want to hard sell and scare me with dense contracts but Brad Shilling and the folks at The Yard make it far easier for the little guy.”

Incutate Workspace Philly is connected with local organizations like the Lauletta Birnbaum Law Firm and Rowan University, adding extra credibility and making it a solid spot for networking.

When we checked it out, we were pretty impressed. Right off the bat, we noticed the meeting rooms were well-equipped with large screens, video conferencing tools, and whiteboards—everything you’d need for presentations or brainstorming sessions.

The atmosphere is professional but not too formal, which feels just right for those networking opportunities.

One aspect of Incutate that we truly loved was the setting. If you’re in a rush, grabbing lunch is very simple because there are so many good eateries around.

One disadvantage, though, is the parking situation—it might be difficult to get a spot during busy periods, particularly after work or around lunch.

Convenient location and helpful staff

We enjoyed our week working at Incutate in Philadelphia. It was conveniently located to our hotel (Marriott was two blocks away) and it was also convenient to a number of restaurant options for meals. The staff was helpful; they had plenty of space for us to use for meetings, conference calls–even a room where we watched some UCL soccer matches during one of the days we were there. I wouldn’t hesitate to use this space again.”
